Fishing in Qatar can be a nice activity for you and your family or your friends, where you can enjoy the beauty of the local beaches and relax as well.

Fishing can be a special experience for you, but if you are a beginner, this article will help you learn some of the key things you need to know when setting out for your fishing trip.

First in order is the equipment required to go fishing. Here are some things that you would need for fishing in Qatar:

-A fishing rod and reel
-Fishing line / Braid
-A package of fishing weights
-Fish hooks (Number 1–10 size), depending on the targeted Fish
-A plastic or cork bobber
-A selection of live bait or fishing lures, Jigg's (based on the methods of your fishing)

Next, you will have to decide whether you will go Shore Fishing or Off-Shore Fishing. Based on your decision, you will pick from the following equipment:

- Shore fishing: requires you to have Live bait fishing, and Shore Casting / Jigging.
- Off-Shore Fishing: it requires live bait fishing, shore Casting / Jigging, and trolling

Then, you can decide where to go fishing in Qatar

Our recommendations for some of the best spots to go fishing in Qatar are:

- Inland Sea

- Sealine

- Al Safliya Island

- Corniche

- Banana Island

- Doha Navigation Channel

- Halat Umm al Khayfan

After you have your equipment, decide on the place, do not forget the safety rules, and make sure that you are legally in the right place for fishing, as fishing is not permitted at certain places.

A few other tips to ensure you have a safe and delightful fishing trip:

- Have all the first aid items

- It is a must to have your Vessel Registration and National ID card.

- Inform authority before and after your fishing trip.

- There should be one expert at least joining you on your trip if you are a beginner.

Please also take note of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s announcement regarding a ban on fishing of Kingfish in Qatar from August 15 until October 15, 2021. To know more about this, click here.
