Winters in Qatar are an occasion to enjoy the cool outdoor weather after a nearly year-long summer. Outdoor activities, park picnics, and beach visits are on everyone’s list. Qatar offers some amazing seafront spots for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of the most popular seafront locations in Qatar.

Doha Corniche

The Doha Corniche stretch is one of the primary and important sea-facing areas in Qatar, beloved by locals and tourists alike. The entire coastal strip from Hotel Park to the Museum of Islamic Arts and MIA Park curves gently along a 7-km stretch. Depending on where you stand, the Doha Corniche offers an excellent view of Qatar’s most iconic spots like the West Bay buildings skyline, Museum of Islamic Arts, Amiri Diwan, or FANAR. Take a walk or run along the stretch at any time during the day and feel rejuvenated by the view. The dhow boat harbor on the Corniche is also full of traditional boats ready to take passengers for a ride along the coast for a nominal amount.

How to get there?

The location is accessible by the Doha Metro Red Line at Corniche Station.

Doha Port

Doha’s latest hotspot, the Old Doha Port has cemented its position as a popular sea-facing destination. The port area also features a cruise-receiving terminal, in addition to a variety of cafes and restaurants in the Mina District offering a stunning view of the sea, boats and cruises docked here. The cool sea breeze is sure to refresh you as you grab a steaming cup of coffee (or hot chocolate) and take a leisurely walk around the port. The port is beautiful during the night,but make sure to go there in the early afternoon for worthwhile pictures  during the daylight too.

Souq al Wakrah

Well worth the drive, the Souq al Wakrah beachfront location is ideal for a serene evening stroll or great to catch the morning sunrise. This spot offers a stunning sunrise vista and would be the perfect start to your day. The charming Souq features a long promenade lined with restaurants facing the beach. Grab an extra pair of clothes and head to the Souq to have a fun time at the beach and dine in at the various restaurants offering different cuisines with a view of the beach.

How to get there?

The location is accessible by the Doha Metro Red Line at Al Wakra Station. From there the metrolink bus service M127 will drop you off at the Souq al Wakrah.

Katara Beach

The little hamlet of Katara has a beach offering the perfect getaway for a family day. Beach access is ticketed and has a separate access point for men, and families, with the option of renting an umbrella and chairs. There are plenty of places along the 1.5 km beach strip to swim, relax, or lounge while enjoying the cool sea breeze. Little kiosks and fine dining restaurants along the strip offer good options to grab a quick bite or a meal too. The Katara beachfront is also ideal for trying a range of thrilling adventure activities like water skiing, parasailing, kayaking, wakeboarding, and more. Katara Beach is definitely a must-visit seafront spot to take your friends and family this winter.

The location is accessible by the Doha Metro Red Line at Katara Station. The beach entrances are just a quick walk away from the metro station.

Al Maha Island

The latest upscale addition to Qatar’s glamorous seafront spots is Al Maha Island. In addition to being home to Lusail Winter Wonderland, the island also has the al Maha Drive where only supercars and luxury cars are allowed to parade. The number of restaurants along the sea-facing strip allow diners to have the best of gastronomic experiences, while enjoying the view of the sea. Dine at any of the restaurants, frequented by locals and international celebrities alike. Check out dinner options at restaurants including Tatel, Nammos, Em Sherif, Billionaire, Zuma and others.

The location is accessible by the Doha Metro Red Line at Legtaifiya station. From there, take the Lusail Tram and get down at Esplanade. Al Maha Island is just a short walk away from there.

Lusail Marina

The Lusail Marina consists of Lusail Marina Promenade, the Lusail Marina Corniche, and the Marina Food Arena. The stretch of Lusail Marina is great for a walk, a jog, or even for cycling. Gaze over the waters to view the iconic Al Maha Island’s lights cast a beautiful glow over the waters. Grab a snack or a coffee from some of the many food kiosks lined up at the Marina and enjoy a great wintry evening.

The location is accessible by the Doha Metro Red Line at Legtaifiya station. From there, take the Lusail Tram and get down at Marina Promenade.
