Everything you need to know about the 5/6 park featuring a large maze in the shape of Qatar’s map

Qatar's image is usually associated with the desert, camels, and nomad culture but Qatar has grown to offer more than that. Doha is home to many lush green areas, open spaces, and parks, that offer recreation and relaxation.
The popular public and family parks in Qatar now are quite different from the conventional parks with added features. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment makes sure that all the parks are perfectly manicured surrounded by flowering trees and boasting comfy walkways to enjoy or jogging tracks to burn calories on and bicycle lanes. The parks also feature high-end modern amenities with variety in children's play areas.
The 5/6 park takes its name from the ‘5/6 arch’ monument. The park is located in Onaiza, Doha, in a very strategic location surrounded by the tourist hotspots such as Katara, Lusail, and also the West Bay beach.
Luscious greenery, playgrounds, prayer rooms, fitness/exercise equipment area, flowers arranged to picture the Qatari flag, hills, beautiful lighting, wall art, and art installations are all the attractions you can find in this park. The park is also pet friendly.
The park has an ‘observatory area’ at a 5m high hill and from there you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Doha Skyline and also the Qatari map-shaped green maze.
The Qatari map-shaped green maze is located at the heart of the park attracting children and even adults to enjoy. The maze is quite engaging as the entrances and exits are named after the coastal cities of Qatar. The maze is outlined with elegant lighting which illuminates at night.
To promote health and fitness the park features cushioned playgrounds, a fitness/exercise area with equipment, cycling and jogging paths, stone and sand walkways.
Prayers rooms and toilets for men and women are located in prominent green cube-shaped structures at a side of the park.
5/6 park boasts art in the form of installations and wall art. One side of the park is lined with wall art from artists in Qatar making a perfect Instagram picture spot.
Artworks include a collection of pieces from Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, namely “Poems” (1963-1965) and “Poem in Three Verses” (1963-1965) by the Lebanese artist, Saloua Raouda Choucair. The park also features the stainless steel pillars standing upright and illuminated, art installation, Al Sumoud (English: resilience), of the Qatari artist, Faisal Al Hajri.
Ample parking space is available and for the best convenience, Al Qassar Metro station (Red line) is just at walking distance from the park. The park opens at 6:00 am and as mentioned in the park guideline, the green maze can be enjoyed until 7:00 pm.
The park is very entertaining for both children and adults. We highly recommend visiting this amazing park.
