The Qatari way of beating the morning blues!

The Qatari way of beating the morning blues!

It goes without saying that holidays are the best times of the year. If you’re a lazy slob like me, you’d want to snuggle into your blanket watching your favourite movie while devouring that Chinese take-out of yours, wishing that holidays would simply go on.

However, we do have to come back to the real world some time or the other. Now that the Summer hols are (sadly) almost at their end and schools in Qatar are supposedly to re-open on the first week of September, let’s take a look at some tips to beat those dreaded morning blues!

#1- The feeling of starting your day with a little bit of Yoga is unexplainable. For those of you who are new to it, trust me, Yoga can really help in rejuvenating your body and mind.

There are a plenty of places in Qatar that deal with yoga sessions, like the Yama Yoga Studios and the Kalakshetra Qatar.

To those of you who’d enjoy the feel of the morning breeze, going for a quick jog at the tracks in the Aspire Park or sprinting along the Corniche with the blue green Doha Bay stretching around you would definitely eliminate the morning blues!

#2- A new day should always start with some positive vibes. Downloading an app of daily positive quotes can be very helpful to those morning moodiness. I simply rely on some of my favourite quotes to give a cheerful boost to my brain.

#3-My mom would always, always, say that the first step of a lousy day is missing one’s breakfast. Now, this is something that almost all mothers agree on and it does have a lot of truth behind it.

In fact, it has been proved that skipping one’s breakfast can make you slow, can lead to obesity or low blood pressure and can make you quite grumpy.

I believe that no breakfast will be complete without a cup of Karak. The sweet tea with the hint of strong spices can do wonders with the morning blues. Al-Naimi Cafeteria at Al-Sadd Street and the Chapati and Karak at the Katara are a few of the best places to head to for some mind clearing Karak.

#4- Start your day by doing things that you enjoy. I’d swear by listening to your favourite music, reading the comic strip from your daily newspaper or even tuning into a morning show!

There are a plenty of morning shows in Qatar, including the two hour morning programme launched by the QF Radio called “Rise”.

#5- Finally, being grateful for all the blessings that one has been endowed with and pausing midway on a very hectic day to count down your blessings is the ultimate way of getting rid of those morning blues.

Although holidays are the best times of the year, with summer drawing to a close, let’s dive into the rest of our life with gusto and joy (while patiently waiting for the next Summer vacation)

A very positive article. And it's very true skipping your morning meal makes you lazy and loose concentration on working.Actually I start my day drinking the proper amount of water before boosting straight with breakfast.avoid much as sugar, fat and salty from your daily meals. As "summer_bre eze" mention starting with fruits helps keep you In healthy.(ex.bananas,papaya).exercising daily will keep your body in shape and strong prevent you becoming obesity.make most of your day in balance not sticking into work and television or computer. As "Kadija" mentioned above listen to favourite music keeps mind set but actually what I do play my fav.song in my own way with my guitar.that makes me neutral. So "Kadija" good job again useful points for everyone. :))

QBS and QF Radio are the most unprofessional radio stations I've ever come across. Even the newsreaders don't know how to speak proper English. Amateurs.

Good article, but Karak is not a healthy start for any day. It is high in sugar, I would rather start my day with fresh fruits. There is already crisis of diabetes and obesity in Qatar, check here:

To start the day with a prayer, a cup of tea/coffee or any drink that makes you feel awake and a positive outlook in life will make a better day ahead :-)

QF Radio - the perfect way to start your day if you like mindless drivel. Why not download a podcast with something meaningful being discussed, like news or current affairs? The last time I listened to QF radio I endured a 5 minute lecture on the history of ice cream, complete with daft music and patronizing language.

I agree about the new day starting with some positive vibes..

My Cuban shotputter would wake up, flex her biceps, look at me with thise doey eyes and quote Fidel to start my day "...quality of life lies in knowledge, in culture. Values are what constitute true quality of life, the supreme quality of life, even above food, shelter and clothing.”

Good times :o)

WT: That's what makes QBS so great. Old songs, daft programs and amateur presenters
