Say No to unhealthy eating habits

Qatar might be facing an economic crisis with the fall in oil prices and the laying off of most of its workers. However, a very crucial problem that very few realize the country is facing is the unhealthy and unhygienic food habits of most of its people.

The country of Machboos and camel meat also has a shocking number of obesity and diabetic cases.

Recently, the ministry of Public Health has taken steps to educate the citizens and residents of Qatar about the correct way of eating and how important nutrients are to human body by putting up posters in supermarkets.

Hence, here’s our contribution on healthy eating habits to keep in mind-

1- Mindless eating and endless snacking.

Did you know that a recent study where movie goers who were given extra-large containers of stale popcorn, still ate 45% more than those with fresh popcorn in small containers holding the same amount?

Always be aware of what you eat and how much you eat. Get used to eating from small bowls to keep a track on the quantity that you consume.

2- Never, ever skip breakfast. Start your day right with a healthy breakfast.

3- Eating too quickly.

Gobbling up too fast doesn’t give enough time for your brain to catch up with your stomach. Eat slowly, take your time and you would even feel full if you sip some water while you eat.

4- Move around a lot. You don’t have to snack on and be a couch potato when you watch TV or play your favourite video game.

5- Most importantly, say no to junk food! Eat healthy and live clean always.

Joints like KFC, McD, Burger King, etc., have people hooked on to their greasy junk food. I've noticed a lot of people go there because their kids like the food.

The following sums up KFC:

A friend and I were standing in line at a fast-food restaurant, waiting to place our order. There was a big sign posted. “No bills larger than $20 will be accepted.”

The woman in front of us, pointing to the sign, remarked, “Believe me, if I HAD a bill larger than $20, I wouldn’t be eating here.”

The KFC of today is a sad shadow of how it was...I loved their entire menu earlier but these days I can just about tolerate their strips... The colonel must be turning in his grave...
