Doha Film Institute is delighted to welcome everyone at another unmissable edition of their annual Ajyal Film Festival. Over the next six days, they invite you to enjoy a hand-picked selection of the world’s finest examples of family-friendly cinema. From thought-provoking documentaries to hilarious comedy, there is something for people of all walks of life, and every generation to enjoy. Once again, Ajyal jurors from around the world will join them in Katara with the important job of crowning the eventual winners of their coveted Ajyal Awards.

The Qatari film industry continues to go from strength to strength and this year they are proud to present some of its shining examples in their ‘Made in Qatar’ programmes presented by Ooredoo.

Qatar Living is a proud media partner of the sixth Ajyal Film Festival. Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 was the opening of this year’s film festival which will showcase locally-produced films as well as from abroad. 

This year’s festival will showcase 81 films from 36 countries. There are 23 features, 58 short films, 24 from the Arab World and 44 by women filmmakers.

Jury Competition line-up at Ajyal 2018 will consist of 13 feature films, there are 550 jurors from 55 nationalities including 25 international jurors.

Their Ajyal Stage also returns with three fun-filled days of live musicians, performing artists, and captivating cinema from November 29th to December 1st. Don’t miss their SONY Cinema Under the Stars series, a special kids’ red-carpet screening of the delightful ‘Maya the Bee’, and a feast for the senses with their ‘My Family Tree’ Cine-Concert.

Qatar’s largest pop-culture event, ‘Geekdom’ returns with a bumper schedule of activities for nerds and nerdettes of any age. From their fan-favourite cosplay day to nail-biting video game tournaments, and more – they’ve got something for geeks of all kinds.

To mark ‘Year of Culture Qatar – Russia 2018’, they have a ‘Made in Russia’ programme with a selection of short Russian dramas, documentaries, and animations.
