Today's edition of QL Flashback Fridays comes just in time to heighten your excitement about the upcoming seventh Ajyal Film Festival.
Here's a look back at last year's festival, which featured a fascinating selection of the world’s finest examples of family-friendly cinema.
From thought-provoking documentaries to hilarious comedy, the festival had something for people of all walks of life, and every generation to enjoy.
Ajyal jurors from around the world joined in with the important job of crowning the eventual winners with the coveted Ajyal Awards.
Qatar Living served as a proud media partner of the sixth Ajyal Film Festival, which among other countries included a special category to shine a spotlight on locally-produced films.
Last year, as many as 81 films from 36 countries were aired during the festival. This included 23 features, 58 short films, 24 from the Arab World and 44 by women filmmakers.
Jury Competition line-up at Ajyal 2018 comprised 13 feature films, with 550 jurors from 55 nationalities including 25 international jurors.
The festival also saw the return of the Ajyal Stage with three fun-filled days of live musicians, performing artists, and captivating cinema.
In addition to this, the festival featured the SONY Cinema Under the Stars series, a special kids’ red-carpet screening of the delightful ‘Maya the Bee’, and a feast for the senses with their ‘My Family Tree’ Cine-Concert, as well as Qatar’s largest pop-culture event, ‘Geekdom’ with a bumper schedule of activities for nerds and nerdettes of any age.
Now, Doha Film Institute (DFI) is all set to present a compelling slate of 96 films from 39 countries at the seventh Ajyal Film Festival.
The six-day event is slated to run from November 18 to 23 at Katara Cultural Village and will feature public screenings, Ajyal jury screenings, interactive discussions, red carpet events, and community-oriented activities that will delight all ages.
