WATCH: Events to look out for this January
The new year has brought along some super exciting events to Qatar!
Happening all through January, there is something for everyone to relish.
If you haven't yet made plans on how to make the most of this month, here's a rundown of all the events that you might want to attend.
Marmi Festival
One of the largest falconry and hunting festivals in the region, the Qatar International Festival of Falcons and Hunting, known as the Marmi Festival, is back with its eleventh edition this year.
The event is aimed at preserving and promoting the sport of falconry, which is held in high regard in Arab culture.
Organized by the Qatar AlGannas Society, the festival highlights Qatari culture and hospitality through various shows and competitions.
Doha International Book Fair
One of the largest book fairs in the region, the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) will kick off with its 30th edition on Thursday, January 9 and run until January 18, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, DBIF will feature extensive book displays, workshops, sideline conferences as well as cultural activities.
The fair will be held from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. On Friday from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and on Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.
The Color Run
The highly-anticipated events in Qatar’s calendar, Color Run presented by Sahtak Awalan: Your Health First, an initiative of Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, is returning to Doha on Saturday, 25 January 2020, at the Qatar National Convention Center.
As part of the worldwide “Love Tour”, the fun-filled day will spread joy and raise awareness of the health benefits of keeping an active lifestyle.
The sixth edition of the Color Run in Qatar will carry the fun spirit that the event is known for all around the world. Participants will be soaked in bright colors as they run, walk, skip or jog along the 5km course with their family and friends.
Kaffeinated's Coffee Expo
If you're a coffee lover or its captivating smell enlivens your mood, then this event is for you!
Kaffeinated's Coffee Expo offers an unforgettable experience to those who love everything about coffee.
You will have the opportunity to try out unique varieties of coffee in addition to other savory items to make a perfect combo!
The festival kicks off tomorrow, January 8 at 21 High Street, Katara and runs until January 18.
The timings for the festival are from 10 am to 10 pm.
Aspire Lake Festival
If you're looking to experience something enchanting this weekend, you might want to head out to Aspire Park, which will stage the 3rd Lake Festival.
Being held this year under the title, 'Tree of Life,' the festival will feature a half-hour show depicting stories of peace, love, family and happiness.
The lake festival will take place on January 10 at 7 pm. However, gates will open for the public at 5 pm and will close by 6.30 pm.
In addition to the 'Tree of Life' show, the festival will also include a breathtaking fireworks display to wow audiences.
ExxonMobil Open
For those of you, who are looking to enjoy some sports, the ExxonMobil Open 2020 is currently underway in Qatar.
Some of the biggest names in tennis, including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Stan Wawrinka, and Andrey Rublev, have made their way to Doha to compete in the tournament.

Light Me Lusail
The spellbinding light festival, Light Me Lusail, is back for another edition set to begin on January 15.
The event will be held at Lusail Marina, East and South Promenade from 5.30 pm to 11.30 pm until January 18. Entry is free and visitors can enjoy some exciting activities and installations.
Ooredoo Marathon
Ooredoo Doha Marathon is a way to bring people together, encourage them to live healthier lifestyles and give back to the community.
Funds raised by entry fees to the Ooredoo Doha Marathon will be donated to a range of worthy charities in Qatar.
The marathon features four courses for all abilities of runners including a full marathon, half-marathon, 10km and 5km route.
There is also a special children’s 3km and 1km fun run.
The event takes place on January 10 from 5 am and the cut-off time for all the races is 11:00 am. The gathering point is MIA Park (main gate).
Metro Street Food
Craving some street food? Then head down to DECC Metro Station and try out street food from around the world.
This is the first outdoor event happening in the heart of West Bay, organized by QSports.
The Metro Street Food features 20 food kiosks, 4 food carts, and a mini-golf course for children.
The event began on January 1 and runs on weekdays from 12:30 pm to 11:00 pm. On weekends the timings are from 2:00 pm to 12:00 am
