Today's edition of QL Flashback Fridays features the highly-inspiring personality, Qatar's former ruler, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
HH the Father Amir has long been a source for not just Qatari citizens but also the millions of expatriates who call Qatar home.
With his accomplishments during his reign, The Father Emir has achieved successes that other global leaders would marvel at.
From the country’s natural gas production which reached 77 million tonnes, making Qatar the richest country in the world, to the creation of one of the world’s largest news organizations in Al Jazeera Media Network, HH The Father Amir achieved new heights of success for Qatar across all fronts.
Establishing the Qatar Investment Authority, allowed Qatar to acquire some of the most prestigious properties abroad, including titans of industries such as Harrods, The Shard and Miramax film studio.
The Father Amir’s focus however also remained set on Qatar, with the creation of the Qatar Museums Authority, which saw Qatar become the world’s largest art buyer.
Feeling his work was done, and trusting in the future he had established for Qatar, The Father Amir passed his throne to his son, the present Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in June 2013. This unprecedented move was considered groundbreaking in the Arab world.
The wisdom, guidance and vision of HH The Father Amir has transformed Qatar into the world leader that it is today.
