WATCH: Grand Hyatt Doha sets up wastewater treatment plant
In line with its goal to advance sustainability and environmental protection, the Grand Hyatt Doha has launched a state-of-the-art program to reuse wastewater.
Grand Hyatt Doha has become the first Hyatt hotel in Qatar to set up a Sewage Treatment Plant.
The Plant utilizes sophisticated technology and specialized procedures to treat wastewater from the hotel to make it reusable for irrigation purposes.
Team Qatar Living met with the Director of Engineering at Grand Hyatt Doha, Manveer, who explains the project and the processes involved in the Plant.
The director explains the vision behind this project stating that the idea is to use the treated wastewater for the hotel’s captivating landscape.
“For the irrigation of the landscape we use 250 to 300 cubic meter water every day,” he mentions.
According to Manveer, the cost of this ambitious project is QR 845,000 and the return of investment is 24 months.
The results of the treated wastewater are not only visibly impressive but can also be seen in the hotel’s blooming landscape.
The treatment plant adds to the hotel's steps toward environmental-preservation and is also in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 to secure a greener future for Qatar.
“This is a new beginning for us to achieve our sustainability goals and we will strive to do more environmentally friendly initiatives,” Manveer added.
