WATCH: Qatar Living chats with Mondrian Doha EAM Mikel Ibrahim
Qatar Living’s Jorge recently sat down with Mikel Ibrahim, Executive Assistant Manager, at Mondrian Doha.
Mikel, who is the man behind Mondrian’s upbeat spirit provides an overview of the season’s festivities at the hotel, takeaways from this year and plans for 2021.
Festive Celebrations
The feast will be everywhere – all of Mondrian’s outlets will participate, Mikel says.
Hudson Tavern will welcome guests for a ‘Decades’ party all dressed and styled in one of the past decades - 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Guests will bid farewell to 2020 from 11:30 pm until midnight and enjoy Hudson’s delicious à la carte menu.
Morimoto will host a traditional Shogatsu New Year with a Japanese calligrapher, famous for the traditional Shuji technique. The master of the ancient Japanese art will paint throughout the evening, and guests will have the opportunity to have their names personally hand-painted, Shuji style.
In CUT, there will be a ‘Stirred not Shaken’ James Bond inspired party. It will be an ode to glamor. Elegantly dressed - tuxedos for men and gowns for women - CUT’s guests will be able to enjoy a festive and chic atmosphere, as well as a delicious culinary experience carefully crafted by Executive Chef Justin Yu, for QAR 495 per person.
Walima will showcase a beautiful terrace with a Barbeque Under the Stars and unlimited food and drinks. Starting from 9:00 pm until midnight, the dining experience will see a Live Grill experience and an Appetizers Station starting from QAR 299 per person
Milestones in 2020
The Mondrian Doha has had a fantastic year with all of the hotel’s outlets.
The hotel reopened CUT on November 1, 2020, which marked an important event for Mondrian, Mikel highlighted. CUT’s concept and menu was changed to make it warmer, more diverse and sharing-focused.
In October, the hotel received eight new prestigious Haute Grandeur Awards – for Mondrian’s and ESPA’s excellence, and the team’s dedication and hard work.
“We grew closer as a team, developed new digital and delivery offers and supported Qatar’s frontline health workers during Ramadan,” Mikel told Qatar Living.
Plans for 2021
In 2020, Mondrian brand proved its strength by opening Mondrian Seoul Itaewon in August, despite all the pitfalls of this year.
Now, Mondrian plans for the new openings all over the world, including London in 2021, in Germany, Australia, Dominican Republic, Singapore in the next two years.
In Doha, the hotel also has many exciting things to announce.
“Stay tuned! And we surely cannot wait to welcome our guests for the New Year’s celebrations!” Mikel said.
