WATCH: Qatar Red Crescent Society
The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) was established almost 40 years ago, and is a voluntary charity organisation that focuses on humanitarian work in Qatar and around the world.
The Society was the first of its kind in Qatar, and works in areas affected by natural disasters and war, aiming to provide assistance to those in need, but also to help rebuild broken communities and reduce the damages caused by catastrophe.
Throughout the heat of the 2014 conflict in Gaza, the QCRS responded to the immediate and long-term needs of those suffering in the crossfire. They conducted a water network emergency maintenance project, providing water to over 200,000 Palestinians that were cut off from clean sources.
The QCRS has collaborated with Red Crescent and humanitarian societies in other countries. In Jordan, the organisation collaborated with the Jordan National Red Crescent Society to launch a psychosocial support center for Syrian refugees in Jordan’s Zaatari camp.
For this year’s month of Ramadan, they have announced an QAR 84 million campaign for projects within Qatar and 11 other countries. One of their aims is to provide Ramadan Iftar food packages to 25,675 families in Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Iraq and other countries going through crises.
They are open to volunteers, and may be contacted at 44027777.
