WATCH: We Are Qatar - National Day Special
Qatar National Day is an occasion to remember the country's glorious past, cherish its fascinating present and look forward to its ambitious plans for the future under the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The day is celebrated with full enthusiasm by citizens and residents of Qatar alike, who come together to show their deep love, respect, and pride for the nation.
This edition of We Are Qatar features some families in Qatar as well as some members of the Qatar Living team who express their admiration for the country and share their greetings on this joyous occasion.
For those living in Qatar, there is a lot to be thankful for. Under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the country has seen massive development across all spheres.
Most noteworthy among the country's achievements are its world-class educational offerings, a robust healthcare system, and its flourishing economy.
Not only is Qatar the richest country in the world, but it is also recognized as the safest and that is a blessing for those who call it home.
This is, of course, built on the sacrifices of the country's national heroes who are remembered and honored at all times but particularly on the day.
Qatar National Day 2019 is being marked under the slogan 'Al Maali Kaydah,' which means "supremacy is hard to reach."
The slogan is inspired by a poem by Qatar's founder Sheikh Jassim describing his son Sheikh Ali bin Jassim (Joaan) and gives a clear picture of a whole generation of Qatari youth in the founding period.
'Within ten years, he mastered all glory and arts...
and attained all traits of excellence and vigorous'
The Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed laments his martyr son, Sheikh Joaan, and gives a glimpse into the truth of a generation of young people who grew up on ethics and was raised to acquire knowledge even if the price of that sacrifice was too expensive.
Like every year, QND festivities will include parades and fireworks at various locations and activities at Katara Cultural Village, reflecting the country's traditions of weaving, falconry, and pearl-diving.
