Anyone who has been in Qatar would have definitely noticed the popularity of the Toyota Land Cruiser in the country.

It’s impossible to miss the much-loved four-wheelers that have dominated Qatar’s road networks for years.

While there may be several other luxury and sports cars that catch your eye, you may wonder what it is about the Land Cruiser that makes it a popular pick by many in Qatar?

Qatar Living speaks to Osama Al Kharaz, a proud owner of a Land Cruiser in Qatar to understand what it is about this car that appeals to such a majority.

He provides us with the following reasons:

Reliability

According to Osama, who has been using the 2007 model of the LX470, a top reason for the Land Cruiser’s popularity is its reliability.

He says his car hasn’t required any change since the last 13 years and that is a testament to the reliability of the cruiser.

Service

Generally, the Land Cruiser requires very little servicing. Owing to its popularity, when the car does need servicing, it's fairly quick, cheap, and effective to get it done.

Since a chunk of the population happens to be Land Cruiser users, repair shops in the Industrial Area are accustomed to dealing with the car and are able to perform the process with skill and efficiency.

Off-road capabilities

For many years, as Qatar continued to build its road infrastructure, part of people’s daily commute involved traversing unpaved paths. The Land Cruiser came in extremely handy for this purpose. Now, as many families rent out desert camps for the winter season, a car like the Land Cruiser helps ensure trusted mobility through the desert terrains.

Part of Qatari culture

Since it first made entry into the Qatari automobile market, it became a necessity for every Qatari household to own a Land Cruiser. Over the years, it seems to have become an essential part of the Qatari lifestyle as a symbol of repute and prestige as well as for its practicality in the daily commute.

The popularity of the car in Qatar made the manufacturer introduce the Land Cruiser’s Middle East version. With its customizations, this version is specially designed to withstand the country’s climate – something that the car users deeply admire.
