Things to do at Expo 2023 Doha in October

The highly anticipated Expo 2023 Doha kicked-off on Monday, October 2 with an enchanting opening ceremony under the theme “Green Desert, Better Future”. Open to the public from Tuesday, October 3, Expo 2023 Doha is an excellent place to enjoy an interactive experience with nature and learn about the latest horticultural innovations in the region and the world.

With 80 participating countries in an area spanning over 1.7 million square meters, Expo 2023 Doha is expected to attract nearly 3 million visitors during the 6 month duration. Divided into three zones; International Zone, Family Zone and Cultural Zone, the Expo aims to provide visitors an opportunity to interact closely with nature through a variety of entertainment, activities, workshops, shows and more.

Visit the pavilions at the International Zone

Approximately 150,000 square meters have been reserved at the International Zone for international pavilions representing organizers from 80 countries and representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the private sector. Some of the popular pavilions at Expo 2023 Doha include Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkiye, Oman, Italy, Japan, Uzbekistan, Netherlands and Iran amongst others.

Each pavilion has interactive features that display the latest horticultural innovations and animated graphics illustrating plans and proposals to make the world greener. Some pavilions such as Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Uzbekistan have live performances taking place on a routine basis outside the pavilion.

Visitors to Expo can also enjoy the National Day of participating pavilions at the Expo House. This month plans are underway to celebrate the Turkmenistan National Day on October 9 and Italian National Day from October 11-16. 

Keep in mind that some of the pavilions are not yet open to the public and are expected to be opened in the coming weeks.

Check out Dadu Gardens

Dadu Qatar was introduced during the FIFA 2022 World Cup last year and was a massive hit amongst families. Dadu Garden Adventure will open its doors to the public on October 12 for both children under 12 and their parents. At Dadu, children are given the opportunity to unleash their creativity through a variety of engaging activities.

Dadu Gardens at Expo 2023 Doha, provides an excellent environment for young children to engage closely with nature through a wide range of activities including making art with nature, exploring the world of worms, learning the importance of recycling and much more.

Entrance to Dadu Gardens is ticketed from QAR 15 per person. Tickets can be bought via the Qatar Museums website.  and visitors can pick their prefered timings and date when booking tickets.

Enjoy live performances

The Family Amphitheater at the Family Zone will be having daily shows that provide great entertainment for everyone. Currently, you can enjoy the live performance of Reem & the Seed of Hope by Kazado. The event is free and will take place twice a day at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

Sign up for fun workshops and challenges

Both the cultural zone and family zone will be having a variety of workshops and fun challenges for the whole family.

The workshops and activities at Ennat Expo in the Cultural Zone gives you the opportunity to experience the beauty of Qatar through traditional food, crafts and aromas. You could also explore and participate in some of the Qatari and International Street Games and experience the country’s traditional games that embody a sense of community.

The Family Zone also has a Digital Park with Digital Domes that give children over 12 years the opportunity to connect with the four pillars of the Expo via different mediums.

Keep in mind that as of mid-October most activities start after 4 pm while some of the activities and attractions are yet to be launched.

Step into the future at the Life Hub

Visit the Life Hub at the Innovation Center explore sustainable environmental practices that will help reduce climate change and contribute towards a greener planet. The futuristic hub also looks at how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and tech plays a pivotal role in sustaining the environment for future generations.

The Hub also has fun installations that gives you the opportunity to create artistic impressions with AI and is an excellent spot to visit with friends and family.

Shop for local products at the Farmer’s Market and Cultural Bazaar

The Farmer’s Market is a dedicated space in the International Zone for local farmers to showcase and sell their products. At the Farmer’s Market, participating countries with pavilions can also showcase and sell their products giving visitors a diverse mix of traditional foods from around the world.

Take pictures at instagram-worthy locations

In addition to the spectacular pavilions found in the International Zone that make for excellent backdrops, Expo 2023 Doha is dotted with captivating structures such as the Green Tunnel, Expo Clock and mesmerizing water features.

One of the most stunning fixtures at Expo 2023 Doha is the Qatar Airways Garden that features the crowd favorite yellow lamp bear at HIA in addition to popular tourist spots from around the world. Located in the Family Zone, the garden is an excellent spot to take some swoon-worthy shots at twilight.

  • International Zone: Saturday – Thursday: 10 am – 8pm & Friday: 1 pm – 8 pm
  • Cultural Zone and Family Zone: Saturday – Wednesday: 10 am – 10 pm, Thursday: 10 am – 11 pm & Friday: 1 pm -11 pm

Access: Free. Certain shows and activities are ticketed.

How to get there by metro:

  • Nearest metro station to Cultural Zone: Al Bidda Station (Red and Green lines)
  • Nearest metro station to International Zone: Corniche Station (Red line)

Tips and recommendations:

  • The zones are far apart and it is best you come in comfortable shoes.
  • Carry bottles of water as it can get hot during the day and humid at night.
  • It is best to start off at the International Zone and make your way to the Cultural Zone.
  • Keep in mind that not all activities and pavilions are open, especially in the Family Zone. Keep checking the Expo 2023 Doha website and Instagram page for event listings and more
