The weekend is almost approaching and you have doubts as to what to do this weekend. The best alternative is hangout with friends or family for a fun filled picnic.

If you want to show your family or friends how much you love and care for them, spend quality time with them. One of the best ways to do this is to go out on a picnic. If you are fortunate enough to live in a country like Qatar then the options are endless.

Here are some of the best picnic spots in Qatar:

1) Al Bidda park

Al Bidda park happens to be one of Qatar’s oldest parks. It is near Doha bay and overlooks the Doha Corniche. This park has large green lush views and is perfect for a nice picnic. There’s a play area for children, Tea time for drinks and snacks and also a BBQ station that you can book prior to your arrival. The best way to get to this park is from the Al Bidda metro station.

2) Museum of Islamic Arts(MIA) park

Lounge in front of the spectacular panorama of Doha’s West Bay and enjoy breath-taking views in MIA park. It’s yet another perfect destination for a picnic. The playground offers three spaces for children of different ages, with exciting new play equipment that has been designed for fun, safety and physical development. The playground is open during normal park opening times. The park also has facilities such as bike rentals and a trampoline which cost QAR 25 per session. Bike rentals for adults and children are available in MIA Park and are located near the carousel. Rental tickets can be purchased at the carousel portacabin. You can always relax on the shady terrace while enjoying freshly made sandwiches, salads and pastries with a spectacular panorama of West Bay.

3) Hotel park

The park, adjacent to Sheraton Grand Doha Hotel in Al Dafna, is an eight-hectare green stretch right in the heart of the city. It features an artificial pyramid-shaped hill covered in soft grass that children will enjoy climbing while parents take in breathtaking views of West Bay and the Corniche. There’s a play area for the kids as well. Large, paved walkways run across and around the park, making it the perfect setting for a relaxed family picnic. The pathways are wide enough for prams or ride-on toys, even at busy times.

4) Aspire park

Aspire park located in Al Azziziya has a variety of things to do apart from enjoying a relaxing picnic with your loved ones. There are a host of restaurants and cafés that you can always grab a snack from. Across the beautiful green hills is a lake that has geese and ducks as well as paddle-boating. There’s also a water fountain bridge. A play area for the kids is also situated here. Fitness enthusiasts can head to the fitness circuit and have a splendid workout session. Jogging tracks line up across the park as well. There’s almost everything for everyone at this park. The most blissful event of the day is to catch the sun go down.

5) Al Wakrah family park

The well-manicured plants at the Al Wakrah Public Garden offer a relaxing escape from the city's urban setting. Beautiful flowers and a diverse range of trees decorate walking paths circling the park. You'll find over 70 plant species here – olive trees, cactuses and berries are just a handful of the diverse plant life you can find in the park. There's a large pool just beside the cafeteria that would certainly add to visitor's fun.  In case you're one of those who wish to sit in the shade and read a book, the park has ample shaded sitting areas where visitors can sit and admire the views around.

Heading with your children? Well, don't worry as Al Wakrah family park has you covered. The park has a separate playing area for children where you can expect your children to enjoy their time around. It’s a perfect spot for a picnic over the weekend.

6) Dahl Alhamam Garden

This park has the ample amount of space for picnic spots. There’s multiple play areas for kids and cafeterias as well. Make sure you visit Dahl Al Hamam Park, which has a skate park and open table tennis tables. Just make sure you bring your own racket and ping pong balls as these aren’t provided. The park however prohibits campfires, barbecue, scooters, bicycles, loudspeakers and pets. The nearest metro station is Corniche metro station.

7) Oxygen park

The idea of the 130,000-square-meter Oxygen Park is to introduce a green lung in Education City, inviting students and visitors alike to refresh their mind, body, and spirit through active exercise and to explore the symbiotic relationships between oxygen, plants, and healthy purified living. What better place than this to venture out for a picnic? The park offers a range of recreational activities for visitors while one can also indulge in a range of sports here. The Oxygen Park Doha has sporting facilities that range from volleyball courts, pitches, racing tracks and so much more. The tracks here are shaded which protects the visitors from the day heat. The best part? There are racing tracks as well which greatly enhance the offerings of the park. Apart from this, Oxygen Park Qatar features a recreational area that houses an amphitheater, a heritage area, gardens, and a children's playing area. The Oxygen Park has manicured gardens and waterfalls which make it a perfect picnic spot.

8) Farkeh Beach

One of the very best beaches in Al Khor as far as family fun is concerned, Farkeh Beach is a perfect spot to enjoy some family time in Qatar. The beach boasts of its tranquil surroundings and numerous opportunities for fun. One can easily reach here as the beach is nestled just 2 kilometers away from the Al Khor Mall to the backside of it.

Farkeh has a separate playing area for children where just about every equipment is already provided. What's more? The beach has, over the years, turned into one of the top places to visit in Al Khor owing to the barbeque option for families as people can come here, enjoy a barbeque party and have fun in the shallow waters. The best part? Washroom facilities have been provided at the beach itself so families coming here do not need to worry about the lack of such facilities.

9) Dukhan beach

With the warm sun of the desert and the sand along the seashore, the Dukhan public beach is one of the most popular attractions for a family to spend a calm and peaceful evening. One end the beach appears as a sheet of soft golden sand while at other the landscape is dominated by the rough rocky surface. While you are planning to spend a day at this fascinating and exotic beach, some of the best things you can do here are snorkeling, camping, enjoy fishing and play football or volleyball.
