Hey Suzan,

I'm a dentist,so I have no idea even what MIS means,I only know endodontics and prosthodontics, but anyways,a general advice is;if you don't have enough experience then go buy some.

My point is,you don't have to accept jobs that don't suit your ambitions,I admire that you have good ambitions, but you can accept working as a trainee, even if you don't get paid in the beginning.

Go knock on doors, that's what I would do,actually I've done that for years, try big companies and may be one day a door will open for you.

Wish you the best of luck, don't give up.

hey you guys thanks for the tips, but it only take me down.. anyways i should accept this...

its not that i have 0 experience, i've been a trainee in a bank, and i worked in a school for a year, but none of the two fit with my domain of studies... it's just that in the MIS field, i'm somehow lacking of experience.. do u guys know any place where accept fresh grads as trainees?? im into looking for jobs as assistant since i think its easier for me to get since of the experience thing.. i've been offered to work as a recretary with a 3000QR!!! with a degree and earning that? i dont think so, because i believe i can do more than just answering phones and sending fax!

anyways, people tell me that to get a good job i should be patient more since its a competitive environment here since everyone is only applying fo qatar as i know.. well i wish someone could give me the opportunity to start my career because the truth is that im getting bored and stressed without doing nothing... well.. i only should keep trying, sending CV and cover letters are what ill be doing and i think its all about luck, nothing else..

lol u guys, wish me good luck because the truth is that im becoming crazy hahaha, joking.. i know, i know, give time to time..

well, i'll be looking for more advices and replies!

thank you guys! i really appreciate your consideration

see you soonnn

I totally agree with you scorpio,

Suzan, the job market is sooooo competitive, you should be fully loaded with a big stack of certificates and recommendation letters and even then you still can't guarantee you can get the job, many other factors govern the job market like availability and accessibility to the applicant,if you are in the country for instance you have a better chance than others who apply overseas.

So during your job search you should always think as an employer not as an applicant, why should you be hired?? what will the company gain?? what makes you the best person for a particular post?? and so on.

Good luck to you and my advice to you is"No matter how hard the task gets, always keep a stiff upper lip"

With all respect, you should not think much about being hired as a manager or a MIS specialist since you don't have any job experience. On the other hand, taking up jobs like answering phones or a receptionist should also not be considered as it does not count towards any particular job experience. Considering that there are a large number of ppl with 10 - 12 yrs work experience waiting in line behind you, consider and be prepared to argue why you should be recruited ahead of them and design your resume accordingly.

IMO, try getting into an administration post and work up your way. Getting into an organisation is the difficult part. Once you are IN the company and if there is a particular post that fits with your profile, it would be easier to work towards that post by working WITHIN rather than applying for it as any other outsider. As companies generally prefer their own staff filling up higher posts rather than outsiders, if you are able to get into a company at a lower rung, it would be easier to show your potential and reach your target within the company.

Don't go by rumours that state that apparently there are lots of vacancies in X company and so u stand a chance of being recruited. The reason being that you are not a Qatari and secondly, you have near-zero experience. So, why would i ever hire such a person??

Best of Luck.

Suzan, you should try the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee (DAGOG). Apparently they have lots of vacancies to be filled, especially since the games are only a year away.

thanks for ur advices guys... Mr. Bean: what do u mean buildings? like not-well-known companies or something? the thing is that i wana work in something good, and i've been applying to good reputated organizations.. i hope everything goes well, i know it takes time

Brummie: answering phones, receptionist.. are those only the kind of jobs i might get? i got an interview for a receptionist position, with all the respect for that but it doesnt touch my ambition, i want something more and i just still didnt find it, i'm just getting to believe i wont get a good job in big org.

u guys, should i do training or something like that? or just apply?

thanks

Hello Suzan, I was in doha for almost the entire month of October. I tried to apply for a job. There are 5 phone calls i have recieved for interviews already and to think that its ramadhan at that time. What i did was go to different buildings and pass my CV to every office that i see. Don't depend on just ads and Gulf Times. Maybe advertising yourself in the newspaper would also help. Just dont loose hope. I'm pretty sure you'll get a job one of this days. Goodluck to you and i hope i've given you a good suggestion.
