A series of cultural exhibits aiming to amplify Palestinian voices throughout December will feature musical performances, rap, poetry, storytelling and debates. The festivities will begin by featuring activist Muna El Kurd at 2 pm on Monday December 5, at the Cinema Hall in Multaqa (Education City Student Center).

El Kurd gained international prominence in 2021 when she and her brother were detained by Israeli authorities for protesting the forced displacement of Palestinian families from Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. The activists’ appearance is part of the GOALS exhibition, where storytellers share their perspectives on the FIFA World Cup, community and culture.

Palestinian performers will also take center stage at QF’s D’reesha Performing Arts Festival, at Oxygen Park and Al Khater House in Education City from December 11 to 17. Performances will celebrate cultural creativity, and feature the Arabic language and heritage.

The D’reesha festival will feature Palestinian singer, producer and neuroscientist Dalal Abu Amneh on December 12 at 6:45 pm, who will combine her passion for music and science in one performance. On December 13 and 14, from 3 to 4 pm each day, attendees can watch performances from Banat Al Quds, a choir and instrumental ensemble made of up of 38 young women with family roots in Jerusalem.

The festival will also feature 13-year old Palestinian rapper Abdulrahman Al Shanti, AKA MC Abdul on Dec 15 from 3:30 to 3:40 pm. Al Shanti is a teenage MC from Gaza who raps to spread messages of peace and unity. On December 17 at 5 pm, a Poetry Majlis will also be convened in Al Khater house to Rawdah AlHajj, Anas AlDoghmem, and Dalal alBaroud who will discuss topics related to Palestine and the Arab world through their use of the spoken word.

Finally, QF organized Doha Debates will hold a December 15 townhall focusing on the lived reality of Palestinian national identity, featuring Palestinian Activist Ahed Tamimi, Dr. Tariq Dana, asst. professor of conflict and humanitarian studies at Doha Institute and Palestinian American actress and comedian Maysoon Zayid. The townhall will be moderated by Palestinian-American journalist Dena Takruri, of Al Jazeera Media Network.
