Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Chef to join our team at our vibrant café restaurant. As an Assistant Chef, you will work closely with our kitchen staff to ensure the highest quality of culinary delights are prepared and served to our valued customers. Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare a diverse menu that meets the café restaurant's standards, while considering customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and dietary restrictions.
Execute cooking tasks, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and garnishing, in a timely manner to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen area, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and proper food handling practices.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain stock levels of ingredients, ensuring they are fresh, properly stored, and available when needed.
Support in managing inventory, monitoring food costs, and minimizing wastage to contribute to the financial success of the café restaurant.
Assist in training and supervising kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques, proper usage of equipment, and adherence to recipes and portion sizes.
Maintain a positive and respectful work environment, fostering effective communication and teamwork among kitchen staff members.
Stay updated with industry trends, new ingredients, and cooking techniques to bring creativity and innovation to the café restaurant's menu.
Requirements:
Previous experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen environment, preferably in a café or restaurant setting.
Culinary skills: Proficient in various cooking techniques and food preparation methods. Strong knowledge of different cuisines, flavors, and seasoning.
Attention to detail: Ability to follow recipes accurately, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
Time management: Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Team player: Willingness to collaborate with kitchen staff, demonstrating good interpersonal skills and effective communication.
Adaptability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate the café restaurant's operational needs.
Food safety knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Physical endurance: Capable of standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), and working in a hot kitchen environment.
Culinary education: A culinary degree or diploma is desirable but not mandatory; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
