Am Kelvin Kiarie Githatu, a certified Occupational Health,Safety and Environment (HSE) professional currently residing in Doha, Qatar. I am actively engaged in a major infrastructure development under the Common Cooling Water Systems (CCWS) Phase IV project,a critical initiative under Qatar Energy, where I serve as a Safety Assistant officer. My daily operations contribute to the safety integrity of civil and mechanical works,ensuring full compliance with Qatar’s rigorous oil and gas HSE standards.
I hold globally recognized certifications including the NEBOSH International General Certificate,ISO 45001:2018 and IOSH Managing Safely.
I am a certified Authorised Gas Tester,Fire Warden,Lead First Aider,Hole Watch and Emergency Response Team (ERT) Member. I have also completed Qatar Energy’s CPW ( consolidated permit to work) and ECPW (electronic consolidated permit to work) certifications,equipping me with hands-on expertise in confined space entry,permit-to-work systems and high-risk activity supervision.
Driven by a deep commitment to environmental stewardship i have written,developed and currently spearheading an Environmental Waste Management & Sustainability Initiative. This project is focused on plastic and solid waste segregation,recovery and sustainability within construction zones,public spaces and residential areas targeting pollution caused by single-use packaging,worn-out PPEs,signage and chemical-based refuse. This initiative aligns with COP27 sustainability goals,circular economy principles and Qatar’s National Environment and Climate Change Strategy. I aim to expound on this in the larger parts of Doha public spaces and accommodation environs and approach Qatar Foundation with this project for funding or assimilation into Ministry of Environment.

Initiated and led site-level environmental reforms for improved waste handling and pollution control.

Earned multiple consistent recognition for field diligence,regulatory compliance and proactive hazard control.

Future Academic Aspirations: My next academic milestone is to complete the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma (currently enrolled) with the long-term objective of undertaking a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management or Sustainable Development. I aim to further specialize in climate adaptation policy, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and ESG compliance for the oil and gas sector.

Protecting people, preserving the environment, and preparing industries for a sustainable future this is the mission I walk with daily.
