My family and i are considering to work and live in Qatar. We are still waiting on a definite offer but it will probably include housing and a car allowance. I have been trying to find out something about the car market in Qatar, but have failed to obtain some valuable information, like the availability of certains brands and makes, and not the least: prices. It seems that prices of brand new cars sold at dealers/importers are not made public on their websites. Also, it seems that there are virtually no second hand car websites. We would be interested in buying a SUV/4*4 and tips to obtain one, new/2hand would be very welcome.
Very good info about car dealers in Quatar...I also have a question:
Can you please tell me how can I contact some importers?...me and my friend are brokers in Montreal(Canada), and we would like to try a business with Quatari dealers.
Thx, and have a great day!
Getin, thanks for your help on this one. Merci beaucoup.
cars here are substantially cheaper than europe (not sure bout US but the same or a little cheaper). Taxes in Europe make sure you pay more there. As an example... you can buy a "british" car like a land rover cheaper here than in england. However, US cars are still relatively cheaper than european cars due to the Euros strength.
some example prices (dont quote me on these... just rough guides)
Nissan X-trail 4x4... about 90,000
Nissan 350z coupe .... about 165,000
BMW 118 saloon .... about 98,000
Toyota Landcruiser... about 140,000 to over 200,000 depending on trim.
Sorry cant give u any more info, but if u tell me exactly what type of car ur looking for i can get a price for you.
Thanks for the info. It has given me a better idea how it works in Qatar when looking for a car. If it is not too much trouble, can you also tell me how the general price level for cars is relatively to car prices in Europe or US?
You will find most car manufacturers represented here (only one i couldnt find was Seat).
The second hand car market isnt vibrant in the newspaper classifieds. For used cars you have a few options.
1. Look at advertisements placed on boards in large supermarkets (eg Family Food Centre)
2. Cruise around the used car dealers along Salwa Road. (there are lots of them of varying standards)
3. if you are confident in assessing a used car, try the auctions in the industrial area on friday (risky but bargains can be found)
hope that helps
