My "baby" is a Doha native. She was about to be dumped in the desert (by a family that should henceforth be banned from owning animals), but I was able to step in before it happened. You can certainly bring your Lab with you--my parents take their cocker spaniel home with them every summer. If you don't for some reason (or if anyone else out there is looking for a dog or cat) I'd strongly suggest rescuing an animal from one of the shelters here. The animals are often gorgeous purebreds (typically without papers), purchased by rich owners who can't live up to the responsibility.

Shelters like Paws and Claws and Pampered Pets make every effort to educate people on being a responsible pet owner, and they also rehome the animals they find that have been dumped. I think Paws and Claws actually reserves the right to take the animal back in the first 6 months or year if they find signs of mistreatment--more power to them, I say!

I`ll be moving to Doha mid feb and looking for a villa / flat while i`m working on the Asian Games. Am moving over without other half for the contract time and after looking around would be looking at spending 3500 is that what you`d be looking at or did you mean 6000-8000 each?

Have been told they`ll be new comers with work that i could share with however not sure if i want to work and live with same people.

no prblem. You need a letter from your sponsor (saying its ok) and a vets certificate saying animal in good health as well as proving it has had all appropriate jabs.

BTW you won't be able to take it back to UK without 6 months quarantine as qatar not in pet passport scheme

Hi, I noticed that you mentioned you have a one year old dalmatian. I wanted to know if your pet traveled with you or you purchased it there. I ask b/c I will be moving to Doha soon and my heart is already breaking over the fact that I may not be able to bring my "baby" with me: a 2 yearl old chocolate lab. If you have any information regarding pets and customs, etc in Qatar it would be very helpful.
