Best Bank Account for Filipino Housemaid

By jaelee

Hi there, just wanted to enquire about which bank is the best one for people on a low income.

As we are now in the process of leaving Qatar, we are giving our housemaid a large bonus for her loyalty and hard work. She does not want it shipped back to Philliphines (family trouble) so instead of her keeping it in her room, I would like to set her up a bank account. However too many maids have given her horror stories about the banks and them taking all your money (I can see some truths here) and she is very nervous about the idea.

I thought of asking people out there if they know of a bank that is more geared up for lower income people and relaying this information to her for her to make a decision.

She will open with 5,000 and each month add around 500 riyals.

Any suggestions please for people in this situation?

Thanks.

We, Asia United Bank (AUB), can provide your beneficiary in the Philippines an ATM remittance card that you can use every time you remit. The ATM card is FREE, and requires no initial deposit.

Everytime you remit, service charge of the exchange is only QR15. Best of all, the money will be credited 10 minutes after you transact in the counter.

You can transact your remittances through the ff:

City Exchange

Al Mana Exchange

Union Exchange

Al Sayrafa Exchange

Al Dar Exchange

Please send me an email at jaymarcaceres/-a-t-/gmail.com for more of your queries about how the application shall go through.

Thanks kabayan.

Online Remita - QRs. 5/- (maximum 3 days) per transaction

Doha Bank, I think they're maintaining balance is QRs. 500/- and she can enjoy the full facilities of online banking such as transferring money to Philippines without going to "over-the counter"

If you are asking bank in the Philippines, it's BPI Family Bank.

Good luck!

Cheers!

Hi,

I'm a long time depositor of EPCIB and I never had problems with them. If she's here in DOha, she can open an account in Gulf Exchange (official affiliate in Doha) at Souq Asiri (next to CBQ).Just ask the Filipino teller sitting next to the entrance.

The initial deposit to open an account is only QR70 and a photocopy of her passport as per document required. She can make deposit in this account thereafter. Also she can access her account when she gets back to Philippines (in peso).

Good luck!
