Personal belongings

Hello everybody,

With my wife we are relocating to Doha in the near future. we dont know, if the Islamic law is allows or not to bring with us our sex toys. Defiantly no pictures or magazines "just" toys. Of course we do not want any problem. Thanks.

Thanks Typhoon.

Could be a great idea, but we rather prefer to use the usual toys.

Btw, Can you access any erotic blog or web-site as long as it is not banned?

Thanks

Typhoon-2012

Why take the risks. Instead you can modify the industrial vibrators that are available in plenty out here and the two of you can get the most electrifying and nerve wrecking satisfaction everytime and all the time

Thanks for reply.

We think is just another way to enjoy.

Cheers

Hi all,

Any recent experience in bringing such toys into Doha?

I will bring it with me when I go there as checked-in luggage.

Thanks for the replies

By Disturbia• 8 years 8 months ago.

I think you can smuggle those things on the airport by luck

hi all

very true, we're moving soon and this is definitely still a relevant question.

so has anyone tried just bringing in any adult toys lately? is there a legal issue?

cheers

Doesn't meant that the question isn't relevant to someone else who might be arriving soon :P

Hi,

I believe there's no problem bringing such things in Doha but of course the place is not as liberated as where you came from so, it would be better to make sure keep it safe or else many eyes would look at you if you'll be caught having it.

Anyhow, it's up to you how to sneak those stuffs in the airport but once you're there it would be easy to keep it safe people don't interrupt privacy anyway.

I arrived through customs with absolutely no incident. The vigilant security people were completely unconcerned with the contents of my luggage which contained an obvious volume of toys. The was no examination beyond the standard x-ray machine, and no bag was opened or particularly scrutinized.

My fiancee and I are pleased to have doubted the cynicism of naysayers.

that a couple is bringing SEX TOYS with them. If somebody has any claim that its their stolen SEX TOYS then contact the couple within 3 days otherwise these toys will be lawfully owned by them

.

Then you can bring them to Qatar with ease [lolzzzz]

Oh, dear, SFM, I'm afraid you aren't completely familiar with the Gulf. There is no such thing here as "private sexuality." Even accusations of adultery or homosexuality can mean jail. Please be discreet.

Thanks for the answer. The Qatar customs page specifies only pornography is prohibited?? I'm going to try anyway, I'm not easily embarrassed but don't want to lose some great gifts.

..

BTW

- respect the norms ??

I don't think private sexuality is by any means a matter of disrespect.

You could try if you wanna to get yourself embarrassed or (worse) at the customs/inspection area.

Is there anyone who has had first hand experience bringing toys into Doha? Does customs allow this or not? I sincerely appreciate a straightforward answer since there seems to be a variety of opinions that have been anything but.

Thanks.

Hi Dweller

Did a search relating to getting my dog to Doha. That's when this popped up. Anyways, really made me have a good laugh. Only after I posted I realised this thread was an old one. I am still looking for information on how we can bring my dog along with us. My daughters say if the dog isn't coming, we can leave them behind as well. Cant live without my kids!

Life only can be understood backwards, but must be live forward.

I stocked up with 5 bottles of Omega3 fish oil when we come back from the UK in the suitcase, they scan through and asked us to open the suitcase. They really suspicious if it wasn't alcohol we bring through. After opening the bottle and smelling it ... i think they are convinced that it is not a alcohol in the bottle.

Anayeb, they should have already been advised you about the relocation policy. If they haven't then make sure that you ask before signing anything. They allow a shipment weight for personal effects (it used to be be 1,000kg including packing) but may have been reduced since I left.

The topic of medicals is covered elsewhere on this site.

As for furniture, you will receive a furniture "grant" that is worked off over 4 years plus an interest free car loan that is paid back over 3 years. Ask for the book "Destination Qatar", if it has been updated then it will help yu.

No, I didn't take it serious..., I hardly get offended.

My husband is still waiting for the damn contract to be mailed to him. Got an email yesterday saying that it will definately be ready by monday... It was supposed to be ready last week! Awww, is taking too long. I guess we will move around may, if everything goes according to plan.

I'm a little scared though, I hope I will enjoy it there. There is only one good school with british curriculum for when my daughter grows older. The rest of schools offer only Thai curriculum, meaning that I would screw her education forever. I'd like my daughter to receive french education because...well, because she is french, after all. I'm not too convinced about the medical facilities over there.

Too many worries...

Oh, well, we'll see...

hey butter....did u take it serious? i was kidding knowing u have a sporting tempo.....wht is happening to yr Thai venture? that reminds me u will enjoy delicious foods there!

thanks for the answer on custom's check. i hv travelled with CD/DVD into Saudi, so didn't expect a problem at Qatar. still thought of asking u all.

I am also planning to air cargo some stuffs (home theatre, utensils clothes etc). i am told since i am already a GCC resident there will not be much check. Loki yr exp was for travelling within GCC or frm outside?

Can anyone pls. share exp on receiving goods by air cargo?

Shipped baggage is usually opened (EVERY box, in my experience) and Customs claim to inspect every book, CD and DVD that is shipped in (hence the long delays in Customs here).

Checked and carry-on baggage is x-ray scanned on arrival. I have had about 2 dozen CDs in my carry-on and wasn't asked to even see the covers.

Just my experience.

I have nothing with vegs! I was just trying to help Londoncouple to find a substitute for their toys!

Anyways, re your question...

Nooo, I think they are pretty relaxed about it. My bags weren't searched on arrival. And if they do, the wost that can happened is that they confiscate it.

Just to bring any stuff like porn, drinks or drugs, and you will have no probs.

By siddh• 15 years 1 month ago.

oooops.....quite an interesting topic. probably u all hv scared the couple to the extent that they will never arrive Doha ( i dont see any posting apart from the initial one).

hey butter....now i understand why u r keen abt thailand. there u get fresher veggies...but here all imported (dont know whether it really makes a diff).

just 1 serious Q - do the immigration/customs people at Doha scan thru each & every item of the baggages? i am planning to move with lots of CDs/DVDs (movies, work related etc. no porns of course). any fore-warns?

I agree, everybody is getting ‘agitated’ with this, Moonbeam… Xena… Butterfly… for all you know, this could be the case of a male same sex couple! Now that’s very prejudicial within Qatari law, worth researching into Sharia jurisprudence in this matter.

Let’s not let this become a diplomatic gaffe, or a faux pas between two nations.

There are lots of innocent uses of the word vibrator. Hmmmmmm well I'm sure there are anyway. Try hard.

Giasi my English Italian friend. I have a hard and fast rule about s3x and that is it - (work it out everyone). I have an early start at work.

Butterfly you can be Kinky and serious. The fact you are serious is even more kinky. I'm off to sit in Carrefour to stare at the vegetables and then rue the fact that I can't cover myself in Danish butter.

ummm.... guys.....as entertaining as this discussion could be...... with all the banning of websites..... I think the topics discussed here should be limited to accommodation, cars and information......

The word "vibrator" might be in the system as a trigger word and when used on Qatari internet might bring the Morality Police running...... Like the CIA picking up the words "Suicide Bomber" on their waves......lol.....

We wouldn't want poor Qatari to lose his baby (site), now would we.....

PMSL at butterfly's vegetable advice :)

Thank you butterfly, i will never eat another salad again.

I did hear of one couple who improvised with a tub of industrial lubricant, a chicken and a vacuum cleaner, but that might just be a rumour.

Dont make the mistake of the couple who plugged in their super duper tandem vibrator in their hotel room only to find out the power supply was 220V and not 110V. Power went out across half of doha, it took the undertaker 2 days to wipe the smiles of their faces and they had to bury them in a single coffin.

It is a big problem indeed, cuz you can walk the walk (as in Giasi's scenario), but you will come to an abrupt halt at the metal detector. Then will have the burden of silencing the beeper and walking through the detector again. You know, these things have always some tiny metallic components in them.

Be careful.

By dweller• 15 years 1 month ago.

It's not the ropes, it's the handcuffs that would be the problem.
