Its right, it will be an Hotel. But no swiming pool.
I overlook part of that area. It will not be open for the games, they will make it look nice from outside, 500 labour will have access on daily basis while games are going on. But will be higly secure that zone.
And the tower/hotel have nothing to do with the games.
Will open to public later in 2007.
It is a hotel, will be used for asian gamges. Huge capacity.
There will be tourch on top of it for asian games.
Bajesus. Have faith.
The hotel will be ready for occupancy soon enough.
The tower won't be completed by the Games - mainly because it was never *meant* to be completed for the Games.
Perhaps they are, even, still on schedule, then...? :)
No swiming pool? Are you sure AA? Although I would suggest you to take your swim shorts when you go to the health club at level 19 on top of the 5* hotel because you will actually see the cantilevered swimming pool coming out of the facade at 100m height!!!
FYI, the general contractor of the project is Six Construct, middle east branch of BESIX, belgian contractor:
It's true though that only the 'external part' of the project will be completed for the games... Hotel+ health club+ presidential suite+ sports museum+ revolving restaurant will open mid 2007.
That structure will NOT be used as a hotel for the Games. It's purely for looks, at that stage - the internals won't be ready till 2007.
the tower today and imagine that only one year ago there was nothing but a hole in the ground.
The games will start in 5 months.
Yes I agree, there is still a lot to do but they will make it.
I hope so...
I have people working on the tower and my opinion is that it is a waste of money its all power play with other countries we at iemants hate it but have to do the job it looks nice but you should see the bill
Your opinion. Exactly.
That is if they complete it on time which is unlikely.
There used to be stuff about the tower on the website of the contracted construction agency. I have a screenshot, but I couldn't find it online anymore (perhaps because they don't want to spoil the suprise and perhaps because there still seems to be a hell of a long way to go). The screenshot is now posted under the photos section (new buildings). I'm sorry if it's hard to read...
It might be opened to the public in April, 2007.
It might have a resturant, a hotel,
Actually, I know a lot more about this project but can't talk about it... it's a surprise! :-)
You'll see in a couple of months... it will rock!
Isn’t that for the Asia Games Torch?
Is it true that the tower wont be ready by the Asian Games?
Its a hotel...
Its gonna have a swimming pool that hangs out over the ground half way up it..
Thanks for the link Bru. Pretty impressive, almost 1000ft. Is the surprise going to be that it is ready in time? LOL.
a couple of addresses for artists impressions.
and this one has a big list of images of planned buildings for Doha. Worth a look
bloody big torch
just hard to be optimistic what with all the chaos right now to get everything done.
