NMoQ named as one of the World's 100 Greatest Places for 2019
In yet another achievement that recognizes Qatar's meticulous efforts in advancing arts and culture, Time Magazine has named the breathtaking National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) as one of the World's 100 Greatest Places for 2019.
NMoQ, which was officially inaugurated by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani earlier in March this year, mirrors the nation’s rich past, remarkable present, and highly promising future in an architectural masterpiece designed by Pritzker Prize-winning French architect, Jean Nouvel.
The destination museum "uses immersive video screens and dioramas to take the visitors on a mile-long journey through the peninsula's history, from geology to pearl-diving, to Bedouin life and finally back to geology - namely, to the discovery of the oil and gas that enriched the kingdom and paved the way for groundbreaking structures like this one," Karl Vick of Time Magazine writes.
According to Time Magazine, this is the second annual list of the World's 100 Greatest Places that it has compiled based on nominations from its editors and correspondents around the world coupled with the input of industry experts.
The list covers a variety of categories including museums, parks, restaurants, and hotels that make up the 100 must-have experiences in the world.
The nominations were evaluated based on key factors such as quality, originality, sustainability, innovations, and influence, Time Magazine stated.
