Qatar Airways to start direct flights to Osaka, Japan from April next year

By QLNews

For those of you looking for a new destination to satiate your wanderlust, Qatar Airways (QA) has announced a direct flight to an exciting new destination in East Asia.

Starting from April 6 next year, the national flag-carrier airline, QA, will offer direct flights from Doha to Osaka, Japan.

The second-largest metropolitan area of Japan, Osaka will be the airline’s third gateway into the country.

Qatar Airways first began direct services to Tokyo Narita in 2010 and launched its Tokyo Haneda service in 2014 from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (HIA).

According to QA, the flight will be operated by an Airbus A350-900 aircraft, featuring 36 seats in Business Class and 247 seats in Economy Class.

Initially, the flights will be offered five times a week, and will later be increased to a daily service from 23 June 2020.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said, “We are truly delighted to be bringing our award-winning service to Osaka, adding this highly sought after Japanese destination to our global network."

"Osaka is a very important destination, and our service to the cosmopolitan city will enable us to provide a seamless journey for our passengers connecting from our extensive network of more than 160 destinations worldwide," he noted.

Osaka has been the economic powerhouse of the Kansai Region for many centuries.

The Kansai region is home to many well-known attractions like Arima Onsen - one of the most famous and oldest hot springs and Nara, the former historic capital.

Visitors can also admire historical landmarks including UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Himeji Castle.

Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, HIA, to more than 160 destinations worldwide.

The airline recently launched a host of exciting new destinations, namely Rabat, Morocco; Izmir, Turkey; Malta; Davao, Philippines; Lisbon, Portugal; and Mogadishu, Somalia. The airline will add Langkawi, Malaysia, and Gaborone, Botswana to its extensive route network in October 2019 and Luanda, Angola in March 2020.

QA was recently named ‘Airline of the Year’ for the fifth time by the 2019 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organization Skytrax.

Just last week the airlines also collected three prestigious 2020 Airline Passenger Experience Association’s (APEX) Passenger Choice Awards

Flight schedule (as shared by QA) will be:

Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (Tuesday and Thursday added from 23 June 2020)
