It all depends on which country you come from and the costs of medical treatment in you home country.
Several years back we were in Saudi Arabia on a permanent visa. My wife was expecting. The cost of normal delivery was around SR 4500 while Cesarean was around SR 12000. I also got to learn that hospitals were very quick to perform Cesarean without giving the women sufficient time. The reason is obvious.
Comparing costs of medical treatment between Qatar and my own country, a colleague desired to have cataract surgery done in Doha. The quotation of this surgery from a private hospital given to him was QR 13000. He flew home and had the surgery done for just QR 1500 at one of the leading hospitals in his home town. And he got to spend time with his family also.
