What happens if I cancel Work Visa

By zephyr_peace

Hi Friends,

Company X has sent me a WORK VISA of SINGLE ENTRY and visa validity is till Feb 2016, but it also says 2 years for DURATION OF RESIDENCE.

Now if I deny to work and refuse to enter QATAR, can I apply for a different company after FEBRUARY 2016? Please do keep in mind this is WORK VISA not BUSINESS VISA.

From what I hear from others, if I refuse to enter, i should wait for 2 years before I can apply to other company, is this true?

Appreciate your help buddies.

Regards,

Syed Usaid.K

I think this ban comes into practice only after your medical tests are done and finger prints are taken. Before that your company just needs to cancel your visa. No NOC is required.

The above comment is not true. As per the current rules, a ban comes into effect only after you are working here, have a Resident Permit, decide not to continue working here or get terminated, and the company is not giving you NOC. In your situation, the two year ban is not applicable. To my knowledge, in your case you can apply for a job at a different company even before the expiry of the work visa but the company would have to cancel their visa first to allow for your new employer to get a work visa for you.

Really? :( Even if I don't ENTER Qatar and don't do the finger prints etc, I still cannot work for 2 years?

Yes dear. Once you cancel your work visa you are ban for 2yrs.

Only if you have NOC you can get new employer's visa.

I too facing the same problem.
