![]() Afghanistan - BooksBy Oryx on Sat, 01/03/2008 - 9:39amThis certainly must be a beguiling country due to the plethora of books inspired. It isn't just morbid Taliban curiousity but books about Afghanistan seem to be testament to the amazing human spirit and resourcefulness.
Have you read any of the following (or others) and what do you think?
Bookseller of Kabul Beauty School of Kabul Swallows of Kabul Sewing Circles of Herat 1000 Splendid Suns The Kite Runner ![]() Book exchangeBy Think-Twice on Sun, 17/02/2008 - 8:40pmHi,
I have moved to Doha for a few months, together with my collections of books. They are not antiques but I have spent days and nights reading them. Some are fiction, some are non-fiction on business, society, nature and, my favourite, geography.
If anyone is interested to share or exchange, please let me know.
Thanx.
Think2 ![]() GIBRANBy alma wad on Sat, 02/02/2008 - 5:13pmKHALIL GIBRAN was born 124 years ago as an Arab from Lebanon .Later he emigrated to the USA and wrote his novels in English, in Arabic . "You ask me how I became a madman. It happened thus: One day, long before many gods were born, I woke from a deep sleep and found all my masks were stolen,—the seven masks I have fashioned an worn in seven lives,—I ran maskless through the crowded streets shouting, “Thieves, thieves, the cursed thieves.” ![]() Bookcrossing.com - My bookshelfBy trinity on Thu, 31/01/2008 - 12:50pmHi, all Book Club members. Bookcrossing.com is a wonderful site where you can "catch" and "release" books all over the world. I have a virtual "bookshelf" there. My sn is echenena - take a peek and if there's something that strikes your fancy, let me know. T- ![]() adverbs?By butterfly on Mon, 03/12/2007 - 1:07pmHi there? Anyone read "Adverbs" by Daniel Handler? It has been sitting in my bedside table for a few days now and I just don't find the motivation to start to read it... Would you recommend it? Last book I read has been a total waste of time... the latest of Pablo Cohello, I don't know why I even bother with him any more...He just plays this role of spiritual guru and I find his stories a complete nosense (except for the alchimist, I liked that one). Anyways...I'm looking for a good read. Something that when I'm done with it, I can be glad I spent some nights with. Any book you enjoyed lately?
