MABUHAY !!!  Welcome to the largest and fastest growing group in Qatar Living!

Though the group name say the word "Filipino", this does not mean that only the ones from the Philippines could join this group. Anybody who is Filipino and loves the Filipino is welcome. This comradeship in QL will pave way to more opportunities of meeting and knowing more people in the group, within the site and outside of it.

Feel free to start forum topics wherein we could talk in Tag-Lish (Tagalog-English) about everything and anything under Qatar's sun but without making other QL members uncomfortable with us talking in our mother tongue. We encourage members to write more relevant topics in English so that others who do not speak our mother tongue can also contribute useful information to topics of importance. This way we could COMPLEMENT the objectives of the website owner/s.

In order to help those who are new to this forum, we have taken a note of the topics discussed and placed under it the relevant thread. You can read through those or add your information to it in order to make the thread more up-to-date especially to those new in Qatar. -QL Filexpatriates Admins

Cynthia Villar Vs Filipino Nurses

Cynthia Villar's answer to question about the Filipino nurses is now a record holder for accumulating millions of haters in just a minute. She is in real trouble and might affect her Senatorial candidacy big time. She irked a lot of Nurses for "generalizing them as a room nurse (caregiver)" on a debate question with only 30 seconds time limit which is “too short’” for her to explain further on the issue.

Mrs Villar's answer just showed that she has limited knowledge about the nurses working or migrated to other countries primarily as nurses and not just a "room nurse". Her carelessness in front of many viewers was offensive and insulting to the nurses who spent a lot of money and time studying, spending sleepless nights for 5 years just to earn a degree for a better life.

Advice Needed - Entry From Another Country Back To Qatar on Family Visit Visa

Hello Kabayans,

I will cancel my work visa and I plan to come back immediately in Qatar on family visit visa to be with my husband. Ayoko na pong mag-exit and pumunta ng Pilipinas, instead I want to exit going to Morocco or Singapore and come back to Qatar from there after I get a print out of my family visit visa kasi ayoko ng maraming cheche boreche sa immigration sa NAIA and ayoko ng magpatatak ng visa sa Qatar Embassy sa Manila. Meron na po bang nakaexperience ng ganitong scenario? Possible po ba na gawin ko ito? Maraming salamat po. Mabuhay!

Incendiary Beijing restaurant sign triggers online fury

A restaurant in Beijing displays its sentiment toward the citizens of the Philippines, Vietnam and Japan with which China has territorial issues in the West Philippine Sea and the Sea of Japan. The sign says Japanese, Filipinos, Vietnamese and dogs are barred from the restaurant, presumably in that order. AFP

HANOI—A sign at a Beijing restaurant barring citizens of nations involved in maritime disputes with China — along with dogs — has triggered a wave of online outrage among Vietnamese and Filipinos.

The Beijing Snacks restaurant near the Forbidden City, a popular tourist spot, has posted a sign on its door reading “This shop does not receive the Japanese, the Philippines, the Vietnamese and dog(s).”

Juan Manuel Marquez scored the biggest win of his career and finally solved the riddle of Manny Pacquiao Saturday night in Las Vegas.

With blood streaming from what appeared to be a broken nose and seemingly on the verge of being stopped himself, Marquez landed an absolute missile of a right hand that knocked Pacquiao cold and ended the night.

It was an absolutely stunning ending to an all-action war.

More Filipino students to learn French

More Pinoy students will get a chance to learn French in public schools and become more "globally competitive," the Department of Education (DepEd) said, as it announced a renewed partnership with the French Embassy.

A new memorandum of agreement has been signed to continue French as a second foreign language and as an elective offered to some high schools including one in Mindanao, the DepEd said in a statement.

This, as it touted the success of an agreement signed in 2009 which has so far benefitted more than 1,500 students in public high schools in Metro Manila and Central Visayas (Region VII).
