Qatar General Aviation Club

Welcome to the Qatar Aviation Club group. This group has no formal affiliation with existing aviation companies in Qatar.

This group will hopefully develop into a place where like minded people with an interest in General Aviation can network and find contacts to follow their interests.

Some members may be seeking information on how to start private flying in Qatar. While others may be interested in ultralights or parachuting.

qatar airways application

I've recently applied for a job as a cashier for qatar airways. could anyone tell me how long it would take before i got an answer? how difficult is to get this kind of job? what would the interview be like, and where? would i have to come to qatar? anyways...i'm interested in all the details i could get. thank you.

Sukhoi T-50 PAK FA - Russia Goes Stealth

The all-new Sukhoi T-50 PAK FA jet fighter prototype finally made its first trip, a good 47 minutes test flight into Mother Russia's cold January winter, 2010.

The new Sukhoi is Russia’s first real step in the stealth domain. Actually, it's a leap in Russian stealth technology due to heavily capitalizing on the American F-22 Raptor, which is obvious in the aircraft's aerodynamics and design. However, the T-50’s design was also influenced by the SU-47 Berkut’s inverted-wings, in addition to technology from the MiG Project 1.44.

India is Russia’s partner in developing this fifth-generation Suhkoi-based fighter. The T-50 is expected to enter service around 2013, while there are other expectations that this date might be pushed to 2015.

Multi-role SU-35 Terminator

Hello All,

I wanted to share this YouTube video clip and some information about the advanced Russian fighter Sukhoi SU-35 (NATO code-named Terminator).

http://www.youtube.c...

In this video, the aircraft demonstrates literally unbelievable maneuvers that were simply impossible before this aircraft came into operation.

Ok, I want you to concentrate on the following clips of the video:

- Minutes 1:50 till 1:58 = the aircraft literally makes a 360 degrees somersault!

- Minutes 2:04 till 2:20 = (this one knocked me off my chair!) the aircraft actually "tumbles backwards" ... wow! (and note how it recovers from the maneuver gracefully).

- Minutes 2:49 till 3:02 = it drops into a deliberate flat spin.

Al Khor sky buzzes with excitement
Web posted at: 3/15/2010 6:3:33

The flying excitement was palpable at the Open Fly-in Day at Al Khor Airfield on Saturday as visitors walked from one plane to another through the lineup of more than a dozen of local and visiting privately owned aircraft.

The owners were just too eager to let visitors, especially children to hop onboard their planes and have their pictures taken. However, not only pilots on board their own planes were taking part in the event. Visitors were also given plenty of opportunities to fill the thrills and take flights in dedicated aircraft around the Al Khor area.

On their wings...

DOHA: The good lineup of light aircraft — all privately owned — on static display at Al Khor Airfield for the Open Fly-in Day yesterday created quite a unique visual spectacle.

The more than a dozen local and visiting aircraft — of all shapes, sizes and varieties not to mention para-gliders hovering in the sky — made Al Khor Airfield really busy and was a great event considering its small size.

Not surprisingly officials are seriously considering to make the one-day air show an annual event which is now in its third edition.

AL Khor AIR SHOW 2010.....Saturday 13th March 2010

The publicity for this event has been almost non existent as far as the expat community is concerned.

All members of the General Public are invited to the second day of the event on Saturday 13th of march. My concern is that most people are unaware that an air show is taking place in Al Khor this weekend.

Has there been any publicity in the local arabic press for this event?

Introductions.......

Hello all,

I thought it might be useful if all the members of the group were to write a few lines just briefly describing their background (if any) in aviation.

Any new members will then have an idea of who might be best able to help them with any specific queries rather than just put up a general question in a forum. It might also serve as a nice "ice breaker"?!

It's only a suggestion and please don't feel under any pressure to put anything on here if you don't want to, but to get the ball rolling as it were.......

My own experience base is:
Airline Transport Pilot Licence holder,
Civilian and military flight instructor,
Crew Resource Management Instructor,
Single pilot and multi crew commercial flying experience.
