In general, the Qatari Inhabitants are of Arabic origin and the culture is very much based on Islamic tradition. Islam is the dominant influence on day-to-day life. This rich cultural tradition is present in what they wear, eat and drink. Qataris are known for their generosity and friendliness, thus making Qatar a very welcoming country.
Traditional dress is evident throughout Qatar with the men wearing a long flowing white garment called the dishdha or thobe with a headdress called the gutra. Women in public where the black Abaya, a long loose black robe which covers the clothes worn underneath. Some women wear a thin black veil over the face, while some a burka, which sometimes can cover the cheek, bones and leave only the eyes open.
Pork is outlawed in Qatar and cannot be found anywhere- it is also illegal to bring it into the country. Muslims are forbidden to eat any meat that is not slaughtered in accordance to the Islamic code; this is referred to as halaal. Consumption of alcohol is frowned upon by Qataris.

Relationships outside Qatar ...Hello, as i received an opportunity to work in Qatar I am curious to know how can you have a relationship going on with someone from your country over there in Qatar?
I'm from Romania, my boyfriend would like to visit me there and i read somewhere that your employer will provide security(also accomodation) in order to prevent you from inviting men to your place. Is it true that in Qatar, we cannot be together not even in an intimate place, like hotel, unless we are married?
This is a crucial decision for me in accepting the job as i cannot but this job above my lover and our relationship.
We are on the verge of getting married...but not this year...
Thank you, i would appreciate an answer from those who live there and know best their customs!
Have a nice day!

Flight Attendant ...Hi there,
I saw your post about being part of Qatar Airways open house back in june, I reallyyyyyy realllyyyy want to join your airline company, but I could never find the schedule for Doha base. I previously worked as a Flight Attendant for an American Regional Airline and since I am originally from Lebanon, I already speak Arabic and French and several other languages. Any advice on how getting my foot in the door for at least an interview? I I've in Rochester, NY but willing to relocate of course to Doha Qatar and live there because I've been wishing I can find a way to do that, but it's difficult! Please any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly :-)
Regards,
Micha
