The general heats for tribal camel began on the sixth day of Qatar's first local Arabian camel race of the 2026-27 season.
Organised by the Camel Race Committee, the 12-day event runs through September 18 during the morning period only. The first five days are dedicated to camels owned by Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Sheikhs, followed by seven days for tribal owners.
The opening day of the tribal owners' heats featured 25 races for the Haqayiq age class over a distance of 2km, including 15 races for female camels and 10 for male camels.
Qaswara, owned by Mesfer Ali Obaid Al Senari, won the main open female race in 2:54.68. Jalmoud, owned by Fahad Hamad Ali Al Nohab Al Marri, won the main open male race in 2:53.06.
The seventh day of the local race will continue on Sunday with 30 Haqayiq races over 2km, including 17 for female camels and 13 for male camels.
