ARTIC officially opens transformed Crowne Plaza Manhattan Times Square in New York

Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company (ARTIC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Al Faisal Holding, has officially opened the Crowne Plaza Manhattan Times Square following an extensive transformation of the New York property.

The opening marks a new chapter for one of ARTIC’s landmark hospitality assets and strengthens the Qatari company’s presence in the US market.

Prime location in Midtown Manhattan

Located at 790 Seventh Avenue, the 22-storey hotel sits in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, close to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Broadway’s theatre district and Central Park.

The property features 685 guestrooms and suites, many offering views across the New York skyline.

The extensive transformation covered the hotel’s design, rooms, facilities, restaurants, social areas and meeting and event spaces.

New Manhattan Level and Broadway Suite

Among the key additions is the Manhattan Level, located on the hotel’s upper floors and featuring larger suites with panoramic city views.

The hotel also includes an exclusive Broadway Suite on the 22nd floor, alongside an upgraded range of dining, meeting and social spaces.

ARTIC said the redevelopment also focused on making better use of the property’s space while incorporating sustainable materials and practices intended to support its long-term performance.

Sheikh Faisal highlights ARTIC’s international growth

HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Al Faisal Holding, described the opening as another milestone in ARTIC’s international development.

He said the company has grown from its beginnings in Qatar into a global hospitality investor with assets across major international markets.

He also said the investment reflects confidence in New York’s long-term importance as a global centre for tourism, business and culture, as well as in the wider US hospitality sector.

Partnership with IHG and Highgate

The hotel has been launched under the Crowne Plaza brand through ARTIC’s partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts, while Highgate serves as the property’s operator.

ARTIC Managing Director and CEO Tarek M El Sayed said the combination of ARTIC’s investment strategy, the strength of the Crowne Plaza brand and Highgate’s operational expertise is intended to strengthen the hotel’s competitiveness and support sustainable performance.

US remains a strategic market for ARTIC

ARTIC said the United States continues to be a strategic market within its international portfolio.

The company plans to continue investing in its existing assets while exploring further opportunities and partnerships that can expand its presence in key global hospitality markets.

The opening of Crowne Plaza Manhattan Times Square further supports ARTIC’s strategy of building a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality hotel assets in major international destinations.
