Hamas has announced the election of Khalil Al-Hayya as the new head of its political bureau, succeeding Yahya Sinwar.
The Palestinian group confirmed the leadership decision on Monday, July 20, 2026. Al-Hayya will serve as the organisation’s senior political leader following an extended period of collective leadership after Sinwar’s death.
