The Cultural Attaché of the State of Qatar in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland has celebrated the graduation of seven Qatari students from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) after they successfully completed their medical degrees with distinction.
The graduates are the first Qatari students to complete their studies under a scholarship initiative launched through agreements between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and a number of universities in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The agreements allocate 100 scholarship seats for Qatari students pursuing degrees in medicine and dentistry.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Kuwari, Qatar's Cultural Attaché to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, alongside the graduates' families and friends.
Milestone for Qatar's Healthcare Sector
Speaking at the ceremony, Al-Kuwari described the graduates as a valuable addition to Qatar's healthcare sector and praised their outstanding academic achievements.
He reaffirmed the Cultural Attaché's commitment to expanding partnerships with British and Irish universities to create more scholarship opportunities in disciplines aligned with Qatar's labour market needs.
Al-Kuwari also highlighted the attaché's ongoing efforts to provide academic guidance and support services that help scholarship students throughout their educational journey.
Graduates Ready to Serve Qatar
The graduates expressed their gratitude to the State of Qatar for providing them with the opportunity to pursue medical education abroad and pledged to contribute to the country's healthcare sector.
They also encouraged future medical students to approach the profession with dedication, patience, and a commitment to serving society.
Among the graduates, Abdullah Al-Muhannadi, a Ministry of Education and Higher Education scholarship recipient, dedicated his achievement to Qatar and his parents, encouraging aspiring doctors to pursue medicine with the intention of serving humanity.
Abdulaziz Al-Kubaisi described studying medicine as a challenging yet rewarding journey, emphasizing that perseverance and commitment are essential to succeeding in the profession.
Maryam Al-Shaibani thanked the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Cultural Attaché for their continuous support during her studies and expressed her eagerness to begin her medical career in Qatar.
Meanwhile, Salman Lari said he hopes to contribute to the continued development of Qatar's healthcare system and support the country's ambition to remain among the world's leading healthcare providers.
