Carnegie Mellon Qatar Welcomes Largest Incoming Class in Its History

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar has welcomed the largest incoming class in its history as the new academic year begins.

The Qatar Foundation partner university increased its first-year capacity to 140 seats after receiving more than 3,100 applications, the highest number since the campus opened in Qatar. The new cohort includes students from 36 countries.

The welcome event formed part of orientation week, giving new students the opportunity to meet faculty and classmates, explore the campus environment and learn about academic expectations, resources and support services.

Dean Michael Trick welcomed the new cohort and highlighted the annual event as a tradition marking the beginning of students' academic journey at the university.

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers bachelor's programmes in artificial intelligence, biological sciences, business administration, computer science and information systems.

Applications for Fall 2027 opened on September 1.
