Qatar Museums unveils Fall 2026 cultural season

Qatar Museums (QM) unveiled its Fall 2026 programme, featuring a wide-ranging lineup of exhibitions, public art presentations and cultural initiatives designed to foster global cultural exchange and dialogue.

With exhibitions opening from September through November, the season includes more than 15 standalone exhibitions alongside the return of Design Doha and the launch of Rubaiya Qatar, the institution’s first international contemporary art quadrennial.

Qatar Museums Chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani described the season as a celebration of resilience and creativity, showcasing artistic and design achievements from centuries past to the present.

She said the programme highlights the power of culture to unite people, particularly during times of conflict.

Among the headline exhibitions are What Lingers in the Artist’s Mind: The Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group at Mathaf, Giuseppe Penone: The Inner Flow of Life at the National Museum of Qatar, and My Home Is Your Home, exploring Arab hospitality, at Fahad Bin Ali Palace.

Other major exhibitions include Around the World in Jewellery, featuring more than 500 pieces, Boats Floating Afar: The Maritime Trade in Ancient Chinese Ceramics, Wooden Doors of Qatar, and Atharna 2026: Life and Death in Pre-Islamic Qatar.

The season also features Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion and Ektashif Uzbekistan at the Museum of Islamic Art, Frame and Focus at Al Hosh Gallery, ERDEM: About Time, About Her, Expanded Tradition: Contemporary Craft Practices in Mexico and Around the World in Jewellery at M7, as well as the Tasweer Residency and the Artists Intensive Study Program – 1st Edition Exhibition at Fire Station.

Opening on November 5, the second edition of Design Doha will expand to more than 20 exhibitions led by Arab Design Now 2026, featuring 81 designers, 78 new commissions and 15 films, with participants from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

On November 21, Qatar Museums will launch Rubaiya Qatar, a contemporary art quadrennial presenting exhibitions, commissions, public art projects, residencies, publications and performances.

Its flagship exhibition, Unruly Waters, will feature more than 50 artists and over 20 new commissions exploring ecological transformation and geopolitical change. The programme will continue into 2027 across museums and cultural venues in Doha.
