Qatar’s U23 football team has been drawn in Group D alongside South Korea and Saudi Arabia for the men’s football competition at the 20th Asian Games in Japan.
The football tournament will feature 15 teams divided into four groups. Groups A, B and C each include four teams, while Group D consists of Qatar, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
Under the competition format, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
Host nation Japan was drawn in Group A alongside Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong.
Group B includes China, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and North Korea, while Group C features Vietnam, Uzbekistan, the Philippines and Kuwait.
The men’s competition will be contested by U23 teams, with each nation permitted to register up to three overage players under the tournament regulations.
Football matches will begin on September 15, ahead of the Asian Games, which are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4.
The final will be held on October 3, when the tournament’s gold medallists will be crowned.
