About Swan Lake
Swan Lake is one of classical ballet's best-known works, combining Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's score with the story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a princess placed under an enchantment that transforms her into a swan.
The Doha production is performed by Moscow Ballet La Classique, founded in 1990 under director Elik Melikov. The company presents a traditional staging with classical choreography, costumes and sets built around the contrasting worlds of the moonlit lake and palace ballroom.
The performance is divided into two acts. Each act runs for approximately 55 minutes, with a 20-minute interval, bringing the total running time to around two hours and 10 minutes including the break.
When and where is Swan Lake in Doha?
The performance takes place on Friday, 30 October 2026 at Al Mayassa Theatre inside the Qatar National Convention Centre in Ar Rayyan.
There are two shows on the same day, one beginning at 3:00 PM and another at 8:00 PM. This is important to check when booking, as the original event date was postponed earlier in the year and some older listings may still show previous information.
Doors open one hour before each performance, which means from approximately 2:00 PM for the afternoon show and 7:00 PM for the evening performance.
Al Mayassa Theatre is one of QNCC's main performance venues and has around 2,300 seats across three levels.
Tickets and prices
Tickets are available through Platinumlist, the official ticketing platform currently linked to the event.
Platinumlist currently displays an overall starting price of QAR 225. The standard seating categories listed on the event page are:
- Bronze: from QAR 250
- Silver: from QAR 400
- Gold: from QAR 450
- Platinum: from QAR 550
At the time of writing, Platinumlist is also advertising a 10% promotion when purchasing four or more tickets, which explains the lower QAR 225 headline starting price. Offers can change, so check the final price at checkout before paying.
Tickets are listed as non-refundable, and e-tickets are scheduled to be sent two days before the event.
Getting to QNCC
QNCC is located in Education City in Ar Rayyan and is accessible by car, taxi and Doha Metro.
By car
For parking, QNCC officially directs drivers to Parking P5 - QNCC on Waze or QNCC Car Park on Google Maps. From the multi-storey car park, take the lift to Basement level B and follow the signs to the Convention Centre.
If you are attending the afternoon performance, arriving around the time doors open gives you enough time to park, walk to the theatre and find your seat without rushing. The same applies to the evening show.
By Metro
Take the Doha Metro Green Line to Qatar National Library Station. Use Gate 2 and follow the pedestrian path directly towards the QNCC entrances.
You do not need to get off at Education City Station and take a taxi or shuttle, as Qatar National Library Station provides the more direct walking route to QNCC.
By taxi or ride-hailing
Karwa taxis and ride-hailing services can take you directly to QNCC. This can be particularly convenient after the evening performance if you prefer not to drive.
What should you wear?
No event-specific dress code is currently published for Swan Lake.
For a theatre performance, smart casual or slightly dressier clothing is a comfortable choice rather than a formal requirement. A shirt or blouse with trousers, a dress, or an abaya would all be suitable options.
The theatre is air-conditioned, so bringing a light layer may be useful during the performance.
Age limit and theatre rules
The official ticket listing states that Swan Lake is a 3+ event, so families should take the published age restriction into account when booking.
There are also several theatre rules worth knowing:
- Doors open one hour before the performance.
- Latecomers will only be admitted at a suitable pause or during the interval.
- Late arrivals may be placed in alternative available seats to avoid disrupting the performance.
- Mobile-phone use and photography inside the auditorium are prohibited.
Arriving before the performance begins is therefore particularly important, as late entry may mean missing part of the first act.
Parking tips for QNCC
QNCC's multi-storey parking makes driving a practical option, but it helps to plan ahead for a major theatre event.
- Use P5: Follow QNCC's official directions to Parking P5 or QNCC Car Park.
- Arrive when doors open: This gives you approximately one hour before the show.
- Remember your parking location: Take a photo of your row or level before heading inside.
- Allow extra time after the show: A large audience leaving at the same time can make exits busier.
Make an afternoon or evening of it
QNCC is in Education City, putting you close to destinations including Qatar National Library and other attractions, cafés and public spaces across the Qatar Foundation campus.
For the 3:00 PM performance, you could plan lunch in the area beforehand. Those attending the 8:00 PM show can arrive earlier for dinner before heading to Al Mayassa Theatre.
