Ebay
Coming to Qatar soon. Wondering how hard it is to order items from Ebay(from around the world) and getting them delievered to Qatar? Will it come to my residence in Qatar or be held in customs?
Thanks!

Excellent ...I am an Ebay buyer and seller. It's smooth and you won't have problem with buying and selling exept for Paypal payments.
Regarding customes, it depends on what you order. I'm an antiques buyer and seller and I didn't have any problems with customes.
I used to buy movies from Amazon and I didn't have problems with customs (incase if you would prefer to buy movies from eBay).
Electronics, clothes and accessories are all allowed to send and recieve.
Good luck...

MJ ...How in the world did you manage to work out PayPal from Qatar? It wouldn't accept my Qatar issued cards! Please share the word!

I said it's all alright but "exept for Paypal payments".
Paypal is not applicable for Qatar.

I do use and accept money order through Western Union or cash in registered mail for payments ...
Unfortunately PayPal won't work. I tried many times ...

Shipping costs are like ...Shipping costs are like 1/4th of the original price of the product that you buy. Thats so annoying man! I wanted a 300gigs HD, and the best offer had shipping services for only inside the US. Who can suggest any ideas?

mj, please tell us more. A ...mj, please tell us more. A Qatari told me that imported mp3 players and the like were liable to seizure, just to protect local retailers. For that reason I've never tried. Are you really getting anything you like from ebay? You say you're in antiques: have you tried importing electronic stuff yourself?

Hiya NiceGuy!Well, infact I ...Hiya NiceGuy!
Well, infact I have not tried importing electronics from eBay. But I did import electronics from Amazon and did not have any problems with customs or whatever.
Cheers!

Aramex Shop & Ship ...For those merchants that don't ship outside of the US, what you can do is register to Aramex's Shop & Ship (www.Aramex.com) wherein they'll give you an address in the US where you can ship your items to, and then they'll deliver the items here in Qatar for a certain fee. I think joining would cost you $30 (lifetime - one off) and then for the first 1/2 kilo, they charge you $8 and the next half kilo in excess would be $5.5 each... Still a lot of savings mind you. Especially if you buy a laptop from DELL in the US. They sell the items 2X the amount they sell them there...

Mail Forwarding Services with PayPal? ...You should be able receive all mail, including Ebay packages, through any mail forwarding service you subscribe to. I assume Aramex is a mail forwarding service. Does anyone know if PayPal will work with a mail forwarding service? I haven't tried it, but it seems like it should work if you have the mail service address listed as your PayPal address.

Well, I thought about it. To ...Well, I thought about it. To book an address through Aramex and pay for item through PayPal using that address. I don't know if it's going to work but why don't we try Chaps??

If it doesn't work, ...then I think the reason will be that PayPal requires your credit card address to be the same as the PayPal address. In which case, you will have to make sure the billing address for the credit card is the same as the mail forwarding address. Hopefully that will work.
