Spare Five minutes for the Prophet this month

Below are excerpts from an email I receive from SoundVision (www.soundvision.com):

Assalamu Alaikum:

...Let us dedicate what remains of this month of Rabi al Awwal to educating ourselves, our families, our friends, neighbors and coworkers about the Prophet. The simpler the gesture the more meaningful, although, if you want to put together a public service announcement (PSA) for television or develop a beautiful video to upload to YouTube, that you would be excellent as well.

 These small acts can include:

1. reading for just five minutes every day from a biography of the Prophet

2. putting a quote from the Prophet every Friday as your email signature

Study shows ‘demonisation’ of Muslims

Press Association
The Guardian
Wednesday November 14 2007

A “torrent” of negative stories has been revealed by a study of the portrayal of Muslims and Islam in the media, according to a report published yesterday.

Research into one week’s news coverage showed that 91% of articles in national newspapers about Muslims were negative. The London mayor, Ken Livingstone, who commissioned the study, said the findings were a “damning indictment” of the media and urged editors and programme makers to review the way they portray Muslims.

Excerpt from the Book of Humility on Seeking Elevation and High Handedness

Author: Hussain al-Awaaishah

Allaah, the Sublime said:

That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who desire not high-handedness or mischief in the land. And the good end is for the Muttaqûn (pious) [Al-Qasas 28:83]

"It is time for Muslims to stop burning flags, and start burning their desires"

Some of your heard Imam Suhaib Webb when he was in Doha a few weeks back. And for the rest, I'm sure you've heard of his name! :-) He wrote a post in his blog that, in my humble opinion, shares with us an appropriate response to the republishing of the cartoons of the
Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in Danish newspapers. Thought I would share.
