Welcome to the Qatar Construction Group. This group is for anyone involved in the building and construction industry. It is a forum for individuals involved in re-shaping Doha - contractors, builders, architects, designers and individuals with an interest in construction, both interior and exterior.

The Qatar Construction Group will discuss building materials, installation issues, environmental concerns regarding building, tender issues and architectural finishes. All are welcome to share ideas and propose questions for the benefit of sharing common knowledge.

Primary construction issues

What are the primary issues (problems) found in Qatar construction? In the U.S., we consider moisture intrusion the primary problem - but I do not believe this could be the primary Qatar concern.

Where are the most failures and what types of constructoin cause the most issues?

I would be very interested in opening a dialog on this topic.

Noise Control in Buildings

Hi,

 

I work in a company that provides noise control solutions, however I have noticed that in the market there is no set standard for noise levels in any level, be it for 5 star hotels or apartments or schools or office buildings.

 

Why is it that in such a developing nation nobody is concerned about noise issues..?

 

Recently a client of mine asked me to do something to stop noise coming into her bedroom on the 7th floor from a construction site across the road. She wasnt even able to sleep because of the noise coming in at night..!!

Product Specification Code

Hi All,

I would like to ask if there is a product specification code in Qatar for certain construction materials.

What i am looking for is the technical specification required for the construction materials to be used in Qatar like the paints for example.

I checked the QCS but was not useful for me because it's a general standards and not firm specifications that shall be in a material so as to be used in Qatar.

we are working in bringing a new brand of paints in Qatar ( an international brand) and we would like to see if there is such code to see whether these paints meets the technical requirments in Qatar or not.

LEED Green Associate in Building & Construction

Hi Everyone.

I am currently studying for the LEED Green Associate.I am due to be taking the exam in a months time and was wondering if anyone on here has done the exam.
It would be a great help if someone could contact me and maybe help me with giving me a few pointers prior to me taking the exam eg: course notes etc. Literature.

Design Question?!

The question is: have you any idea if there is a proper word to use to describe the space between two interior doors; such as in older houses where there is a space between the rooms approx. 100cm - I really don't know and can't find it anywhere, is there such a word or am I looking for an imaginary thing?

To all Architects and Interior Designers. There is a request for a gathering of architects and interior designers in Doha to discuss current issues + more. Some topics being suggeted now are "Is Doha Land a Good Thing?", "Architecture in Qatar", "Sustainability", You are all invited to suggest other issues that are of interest to you.

The idea basically is to get together and communicate to discuss our favourite subject: design!

We suggest the first weekend in March - feel free to suggest a venue that is challenging in terms of architecture and design.

NEBOSH and IOSH Training

Hi group members, i lead a team of Health and Safety Professionals working in Qatar on a range of projects in the oil and gas, construction and power sectors. We are now accredited to deliver the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), National General Certifciate (NGC) and IOSH managing safely in construction. These courses are avaiable as block release, day release and evening courses. We have an IGC course commencing soon on fridays to assist those who cannot get time of work for training.

All of the tutors are experienced western expat safety professionals working ind living in Qatar and all training is delivered face to face in Doha (not industrial area).

If you are interested, no anyone who may be interested you can contact me through QL private mailbox or the groups.
