Hi everyone!
I'm writing with regards to the recent flooding disaster in Manila.
Firstly, I'm a little disappointed that I am the first one to post something on this. By now, I thought the QLVG would be all over it.
Lets put our heads together for the Filipinos
By WitchStix on Mon, 05/10/2009 - 12:47pmHi everyone!
I'm writing with regards to the recent flooding disaster in Manila.
Firstly, I'm a little disappointed that I am the first one to post something on this. By now, I thought the QLVG would be all over it.
There are a lot of people who have been directly or indirectly affected by the recent flooding as I'm sure most Filipions in Qatar have been. I ask that we dedicate a bit of our time to come up with ideas and action them to help the victims in the Philippines.
Anyone who has specific contacts or know Aid organisations in the Philippines, please share what you can.
Lets pour out the suggestions. I'm sure those who have lost their livelihoods would greatly appreciate the helping hand.
Lets action this ASAP.

Iftar Drive 2009
By Barq on Mon, 14/09/2009 - 7:29pmTo my surprise the number of QLVG is approx 475, whenever there is any activity in QLVG the number of volunteers are not more than 30~35. Same happen During the Iftar drive, Similar was observed , I was talking to Speed about Iftar Distribution he ask me to come up with some friends or with my sons to reduce the work load, I took my son and my 11year old daughter to Support us, Alhamdulillah the limited number of available QLVG (I saw most of them each time) did an admirable job, with their smiling face, in such a pretty bad weather, Now out of 475, Limited number of QLVG are doing the Volunteer work …………..what about the others? I request all the members that it not that necessary to involve yourself 100% but at least share some of your time to be proud of yourself.
HAREES
By PITSTOP on Mon, 14/09/2009 - 3:00amSallam Aleikum,,
I thought of putting a HAREES thread to share our Qatari tradition with all our special expatriates that are living in Qatar.
--
Harees is a traditional Arabic dish consisting of wheat, meat (or chicken) and salt. The wheat is crushed to make it soft and palatable. It is perhaps the most famous Qatari dish.
Harees is soaked overnight, then the meat is washed with filtered water and simmered in a pot 3/4 full of water along with the harees & clarified butter. The liquid remaining is strained and salt is added and the entire mixture is beaten. When ready, the mixture is poured into a serving pot and the surface is covered with cinnamon and sugar; usually it is served as it is with more clarified butter added. Harees is a rich meal and is filling.
