Hi, there is quite a bit of interest in Self Defense and Martial arts in Qatar so, this is the place to come and discuss it. Make announcments, share advice, point out the the best dojos in town etc.
I will try to upload the tech lessons and one fight between each class. Dunno how it will work out since I am in a temp place and the net connection is a wireless one that I am just... on..
Sometimes I get disconnected other times its fine. It takes a 4 min video over 1.5 hours to upload so... I'm up at 3am loading the videos when the owner and the whole neighborhood isn't beating up his connection speed. Yes I am a nice connection hijacker! lol.
Be sure to check the page a day after each FREE lesson (reminder to all you out there who don't come :P). In case you forgot the classes are on Mon, Wed, and Sat starting at 2045 sharp.
Looks like we have the opportunity to open up a MMA school here in Doha in the coming future. We are going to have self defense and combat fighting training along side the basic MMA tech.
We have the possibility to offer stick and knife fighting and the very much loved and adored karate and/or tae kwon do for your kids.
We will offer self defense for women as they have a whole set of issues in self defense that needs to be addressed as opposed to men.. So ladies we will be looking out for you too!
Stay tuned, we are working on getting this all together and seeing what our sponsor for the idea thinks of our proposal.
It could be the case that we are going to change the times of the jujitsu class on Saturdays to shortly after asser prayer which is at about 1500 about right now.
I will keep you all posted on the changes.
Today we did rib crush with an opponent in your guard then a leg attack while you are trying to escape the guard.
Both tech are dependent on the opponent getting sloppy in a fight for a few reasons: 1 improper training or 2 he is fatigued and doesn't have the energy to properly maintain fighting technique and posture.
Both are quite common.
Hello all! I'm back! couldn't post to the self defense forum for some reason but I just figured out the problem so I am back.
Been lots of tech we have done since the last time I posted so I wont try to back log them all.
This past lesson we recapped the triangle from guard and basic attacks and escapes for the new people in the class and as a refresher to the old school people.
Remember the lessons are free and if you are looking to burn some calories off we have a cardio and physical work out.
I will post some videos of past tech here in the next few days and try and keep everyone filled in on or training and possible events in the future.
Looking to get an idea of how many people here would be interested in a self defense course twice a week. We are looking at covering basic defense and advanced techniques later on. We will cover basic safety tips for women to include situational awareness and some basic psychology of those who assault women.
The course will be free of course and women are naturally welcomed as are men.
Shoot me a PM so I can get an idea of numbers and if it is something that is worth carrying forward.
Yep you read it right! WWe are offering free Mui Thai and BJJ lesoons three times a week. All you have to do is show up. Call the number at the bottom for info! PS if you figure out who I am from this and divulge my secret identity I will use my BJJ skills to break your back in 8 different places! J/K
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Classes
Just looking for someone to train with 2 or 3 times a week. Looking for more of a self defense aspect as opposed to a full style with katas and the rest.
Doesn't matter what style it is just would like to train regularly with someone. I would prefer a stand up style, I train ju-jitsu with another group already but I get the feeling I am losing my stand up.
I trained in Tae Kwon Do, Wing Tsun and stick and knife fighting so I would of course share what I know if there is someone out there willing to do the same with their style.
PM me if you are interested!
It has finally started.
You probably remember the interest a short while ago that never quite bore fruit.
But here is the fresh start.
As I am STILL not in Qatar yet I am limited to what I can offer practically.
But what a great push to get me and us up to scratch.
And I must say I didn't intend this to be a martial arts forum, if you have knowlege then share it.
But in practical easy to understand realistic terms, ok?
As a suggestion I think we could start by saying what we want from this.
Scenarios are a good starting point, leading to us sharing whatever knowlege we have.
Be it skills or plain old common sence.
I have things I can share and I am sure you do too.
Lest get the ball rolling.
