HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received leaders, senior officials and international figures at Lusail Palace on July 13, as they offered condolences on the passing of the late HH The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The visits and messages reflected the regional and international stature of the late HH The Father Amir, whose legacy remains closely connected to Qatar’s modern history and development.
Gulf Leaders and Senior Officials Offer Condolences
Among the most senior Gulf figures received by HH The Amir were HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain; HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain; and HH Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait.
HH The Amir also received HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, and HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman.
Arab Leaders and Heads of Government Attend Condolence Receptions
HH The Amir also received a number of Arab leaders and heads of government, including HE Ahmed Al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic; Dr Nawaf Salam, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon; HE Abdulhamid Al Dbeibah, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya; and HE Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government of the Kingdom of Morocco.
HE Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, also offered condolences at Lusail Palace.
Leaders from Asia and Africa Pay Their Respects
Condolences were also offered by leaders from across Asia and Africa, including HE Dr Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives; HE Nizar Amidi, President of the Republic of Iraq; HE Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; HE Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda; and HE Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Their presence reflected the wide international respect for the late HH The Father Amir and the role he played in strengthening Qatar’s global relations.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Ajman and International Sports Figures
HH The Amir also received Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council.
HE Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, also visited Lusail Palace to offer condolences, reflecting the late HH The Father Amir’s lasting connection to Qatar’s sporting journey and international presence.
Condolence Phone Calls from Saudi Arabia and the UAE
HH The Amir also received condolence phone calls from HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the calls, they expressed their condolences on the passing of the late HH The Father Amir.
