Qatar clinches 20 medals at West Asia Table Tennis Championship in Jordan

Qatar won 20 medals, including four gold, two silver and 14 bronze, at the West Asia Table Tennis Championships for national teams in Amman, Jordan, which featured 10 countries across men’s, women’s, youth, junior and cadet categories.

Qatar’s gold medals went to Abdulaziz Nasser Abdullah in boys’ under-15 singles, Mohammed Abdulwahab and Abdullah Abdulwahab in men’s doubles, Ahmed Al Qarni and Rawad Al Nasser in boys’ under-19 doubles; and Qatar’s boys’ under-19 team.

Silver was won by Sultan Al Kuwari in the under-19 category, and Serena Sheikh and Dana Al Kaabi in girls’ under-13 doubles.

The eight individual and doubles bronze medals were secured by Mohammed Abdulwahab in men’s singles, Ahmed Al Qarni and Rawad Al Nasser in boys’ under-19 singles, Mohammed Al Sulaiti in boys’ under-17 singles, Aya Magdy and Mohammed Abdulwahab in mixed doubles, Aya Magdy and Maryam Ali in women’s doubles, Abdulaziz Nasser Abdullah and Issa Al Haddad in boys’ under-15 doubles, and Ahmed Al Abdullah and Mohammed Al Qatiti in the boys’ under-11 category.

Six bronzes came from the boys’ under-11, boys’ under-13, boys’ under-15 and boys’ under-17 teams, the girls’ under-13 team, and the women’s team.

Qatar Table Tennis Association President Hamad Ahmed Al Hamadi said the medal spread across events and age groups reflected the association’s talent-development work and the sport’s progress.

He praised the players, coaches and administrative staff, and said preparations would intensify for next month’s Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where Qatar aims to deliver strong performances and compete for the best possible results.
