Qatar Face Tunisia in Final Pool A Match at FIVB Boys' U17 World Championship

Qatar’s U17 volleyball team will conclude the preliminary stage of the FIVB Boys' U17 World Championship with a match against Tunisia on August 23.

The third and final Pool A fixture will begin at 5:00 PM at the Women's Sports Hall in Aspire Zone.

France lead the group standings with six points, followed by Tunisia and Venezuela with three points each, while Qatar sit fourth without a point.

The result will be important to the qualification calculations, with the top three teams from each pool and the best fourth-placed team advancing to the Round of 16.

Saud Al Kuwari, Qatar national team administrator, said the championship features a high technical level and provides Qatar with an important opportunity to gain experience against teams from different volleyball backgrounds.

He said Qatar’s first appearance at the tournament would help the players build experience and further develop their level.

Looking ahead to the Tunisia match, Al Kuwari said the two teams are closely matched and that Qatar will compete with the ambition of securing a positive result.

He also highlighted the level shown by several Asian teams, including Iran, Pakistan and India, saying exposure to such opposition provides valuable experience for young players at the beginning of their international careers.

The final round of the preliminary stage also includes matches between Brazil and Argentina, Iran and Chinese Taipei, Italy and Cuba, and Egypt and Spain.

Following the preliminary stage, the competition moves into the Round of 16 and subsequent knockout rounds. The third-place match and final are scheduled for August 29.
