Children's gear and toys are among the fastest-moving categories on Qatar Living Classifieds. Families upgrade strollers and car seats with each new child, and high-quality educational toys move between families as kids age out of them. British curriculum schools across Doha — Park House English School, DESS, Sherborne Qatar, and others — cycle through uniforms each year, creating steady inventory of barely-worn pieces.
Safety first: check the manufacture date on every car seat, since most expire six to ten years from production per the major manufacturers' guidance. Confirm no recall has been issued (the brand's site lists active recalls). Inspect strollers for working brakes and clean harnesses, and wash plush toys and clothing before use. Ask the seller whether they were the original owner and whether the item has been involved in any accidents.
Clean every item before photographing. Disclose the item's age, original purchase location (Mothercare or Babyshop in Doha are the most common), and any defects honestly. For brand-name strollers and car seats, include the original receipt if you still have it — buyers are willing to pay more for documentation. Bundling related items (stroller plus car seat plus base, full nursery furniture set) tends to sell faster than listing each piece separately.
Find the manufacture date sticker (usually under the seat). Car seats typically expire six to ten years from manufacture per manufacturer guidance — past that point, plastic degrades and safety can no longer be assured. Also check the model on the manufacturer's site for active recalls and confirm the seat hasn't been involved in any collision.
Mothercare and Babyshop are the largest specialist baby retailers in Doha, with branches across Mall of Qatar, Villaggio, City Center Doha, and Doha Festival City. Comparing the second-hand asking price against current new retail at these stores helps you spot fair deals quickly.
Yes, especially premium brands (Cybex, Bugaboo, UPPAbaby) which retain quality even through multiple children. Check brakes, wheel alignment, harness condition, and folding mechanism before paying. Strollers from non-smoking and pet-free homes are easier to clean up to like-new condition.
Yes — wash all fabric items on a hot cycle with a fragrance-free detergent before introducing them to your child. Plush toys can usually go through the washing machine on a delicate cycle inside a pillowcase, or be hand-washed if too delicate. Air-dry to avoid shrinkage.
Ideally the original receipt (proves the manufacture date and purchase channel), the user manual, and the original box if available. Ask whether the seller has the full harness, infant insert, and any included accessories — incomplete units sell at a discount for a reason.
