Samarkand Trading and Book Distributors is a Qatari company that has been operating since December 2015 where it officially launched at the Doha International Book Fair, specializing in book selling and distribution. It aims to fill the gaps in the Arabic and foreign language book market for adults and children, as well as the resources available for schools, researchers, and general readers, by supplying local bookstores, schools, and various entities with our bestselling and wide selection of books in Qatar. We believe in the importance of reading, especially among children and young adults, because of the motivation by the Qatari government in raising generations that can continue Qatar’s development and its 2030 National Vision. 

We are the exclusive representer and distributor in Qatar of several Arab publishing houses, including Arab Scientific Publishers, Dar Al Tanweer, Dar Alkhayyal, Antoine Naufal, Dar Kalemat, Dream Book Publishing, Sama Publishing, and many others. We also distribute books of many foreign publishers, including the Big Five trade publishers in the world, such as Penguin Random House, MacMillan, Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins, Simon and Schuster, as well as Usborne, Walker Books, Scholastic, Make Believe Ideas and many others. 

Samarkand carries over 10,000 book titles in its catalog, that are readily available for trading. These titles have been carefully curated and selected to suit Qatar’s traditions and values and have received the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Culture. 

These include a diverse selection of Arabic and English children’s books, literary fiction, and non-fiction.
